Default Pics of the new wheels for the xA

So I got these on after Christmas. They were a gift to my fiancee for her xA. They took quite a bit of work. I had to buy 5mm spacers for both the front and rear. This required longer wheel studs. I bought 55mm for the front and put the 40mm front studs in the rear. I also had to grind part of the inner wheel well down to prevent rubbing.

After all was done, there was still rubbing, front and rear slightly under load. So, I took off the 245s from the back and put the 225s that were in the front there, and I bought some used 215s for the front. Voila, rubbing is gone!

Only thing left to do now is go and get some even longer studs for the rears, I'm about 3mm short of thread..... no bueno.

I have a question though. Will a 50mm or 55mm stud fit into the hub from the rear in that small space with all the drum break hardware without having to remove it from the break assembly?

Thanks, and sorry for the long post, I tried to break it up into paragraphs to avoid a wall of text.

tl;dr

New wheels, lots of work to fit them, need longer rear studs. PICS!

5mm spacer and you need longer studs? your rims must be super wide with high offset? i never heard of anyone needing to get longer studs just for 5mm spacers. is it possible you're using the wrong kind of lug nuts?

btw is that an 05 or 06 xA? side skirts are from 06 but tail lights are from 05.

the specs: 18x7.5 wheel with 42mm offset. it seems like the wheels are pretty thick in the area of the lug holes so that's where the extra space was needed. I have a lot of extra thread with the 55mm studs. using open ended nuts.

is this bad? I'm kind of new to wheels so any help and advice is appreciated.

the car is an 05 but was previously repaired after an accident so I guess they found 06 ones and put them on at some point. I had actually never noticed. I'm gonna have to look at some 05 side skirts and see the difference.

so main question I have right now is, are 50 or 55mm studs top long to fit into the rear hub? without taking anything other than the drum rotor off?

sorry i can't answer your question, i've never had to extend my studs so i wouldnt know. the only time i took the drum rotor off was to install hub spacers, and it was easy to do. not sure how to replace the studs though, seems like you might have to open up the drums to remove the stock ones.

no they just bang out like the fronts. the only thing is that there is less space fr ten to push out than in the front. and consequently less space to put them in. hence, why I'm worried about whether 55mm studs will fit through.

The offsets are too high for the xA. They are hitting the inside of the wheel well, not the outside like the usual issue.

The rims aren't even that wide.

You should have asked us about the specs before buying.

That said, a 20mm wheel spacer doesn't require longer stud installation and are easy to bolt on. They are pricey though. Good luck.

That xA looks silly without some mild drop springs!
