Default My xB + hailstorm = sad :( (update....)

If you guys have watched the news, you know that the Dallas-Ft.Worth area got hammered today by tornadoes, wind and hail. Well, my xb took a beating by hail and the damage is pretty bad, every panel has damage. The roof and hood got the worse of it.

Ive got my brother taking it to his shop to get an estimate written on it tomorrow and I'm hoping its repairable.

Here's one of the many that violated my ride...

Major drag dude ! I've an f'ing tree adjacent my driveway that drops seed pod bombs on my cars, just love the dents they make come Fall ! I recommend checking in with a competent PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) technician, and as long as the paint is indeed undamaged, get the best and cheapest repair currently available.

Dude, that sucks. My cousin lives out there and he tells me the hails are like golf *****. Over here in cali the hails are like about the size of a dime.

Does you insurance over natural disaster damage?

yeah, really glad you're okay... i saw some video that showed tractor trailers getting launched 100+ feet into the air.... it could have been way worse!

the fact that you are okay just means that now is a perfect time to upgrade to another ride! :D

Thanks everyone for the kind words. We are very fortunate here, from what Ive read there were no deaths.

This a pic my gf sent me from her job, one of her co-workers took it...

Im really hoping it doesnt get totaled, but if it does. I might get a new 2012. I <3 xb2s and they are such great vehicles for people haulin and utility use.

The only other option im considering is a truck. I do miss the feel of driving one and its practically a sin if you dont in Texas lol.

It was good to hear on the news that nobody was killed. My Dodge 1500 PU went through a tornado and had hail damage. $7.5k worth of divits on every square inch of the body and no windows left. Insurance fixed it all and actually the truck looked very good after the Painless Dent work was done.

Nonetheless, I traded it for a Tundra a few weeks after getting it back. Which I recently traded on the xB. Is a bit hard downsizing!! Hope everything works out in you favor.

Just a thought, a regular shop will be thinking body work (Bondo/paint), which is not the same as PDR. Like I said earlier, take it to a competent PDR specialist and get their estimate before you give up.

Im waiting for the adjuster to write an estimate.

From my eyes and past auto experience:
The hood is def getting replaced, its that bad.
There is one small spot on the roof pillar area that broke paint.
The fenders are bent down a bit by the corners closest to the windshield.

The roof could be pdr'd, but there are so many, its possible they'll write it as replace.
Doors, fenders and rear hatch have easy PDR dents
There's a huge baseball size dent on the passenger rear quarter panel that would need to be repaired, sheetmetal looks stretched.

At this point Im kinda hoping they total it so I can buy a new one or a truck.

My impression is you understand what I'm talking about, and it sounds less than promising ! I'd prefer the best, but if the damned storm really trashed it, then I guess there's not a whole lot of possibility ! You got my sympathy dude (not that that helps a whole lot) -- major drag !

Its getting repaired as of now, but the drive in adjuster wrote an estimate that was too low for the damage according to the shop. They're in the process of writing a supplement that may be an additional $2k-$3k. After all said and done it may cost $7k-$8k to repair.

Well everyone, it's been a good run, but....

I've decided to keep the repair money, sell the xb as is and buy a new truck. I'll be posting a FS thread for the following soon if you're interested:

TRD rear sway bar
TRD strut bar
TRD carbon fiber shift ****
Scion Nav SNS 100
17" OEM wheels (probably local though)

BTW, If anyone is interested I'm letting the xb go for $5k. If you got a hook-up on pdr and some body work, you'll have a clean titled xb2 for cheap!
