Default Toyota bB -> Scion xB ???

Knowing how everyone here is crazy about making over their boxes into "JDM" bBs, I wonder if the japanese are busy looking for "authentic" Scion xB emblems to USDM their bBs

JDM bB owners: Get your AUTHENTIC USDM xB emblems here! Only $29.98 for both rear emblems!

theres actually a guy in Japan that owns an AE86. he made he car into an USDM by putting the bumpers on it and the stickers say "Corolla GT-S" not "Splinter" or some other name like "Trueno" and "Levin"...

I'm sure if you posted this on a Japanese site you would have a buyer. Seriously.

This is one rare case where JDM is not better though.

I'll gladly take my USDM bB with it's 5 speed manual, stiffer springs and shocks, reinforced doors and bumpers and satellite radio over a column shifting automatic RHD bB with mushy Echo springs and fake crystal HVAC *****.

Thanks Toyota!

if you pick up a copy of the Style Wagons magazine...
in the classified section you see a few shops that are dedicated to selling Scion parts to the JDM market...

so, yes the people overseas want our USDM parts to customize their bB's....

My wife said that alot of people in northern japan are doing this right now.

http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f31706110

Roughly exchanged the price for this set is 90 dollars with the yen rate at 102 yen to the dollar. I don't think so----

You will laugh, but I saw sets of USDM badges for both Scion and Subaru selling in Super Autobacs at Shinonome Bay in Tokyo for somewhere between $150-$180. There was a market for getting Lexus badges for their Toyotas, but since Lexus has "entered" the market there, I am sure that swtiching over has lost the lustre.

So, yes, we are swtiching over our boxes to JDM while they are (sometimes) switching over their boxes to USDM.

If you think that's outrageous.................let's talk about imported video games Over there, our $19.99 games sell for Y8000!!!!!!!

I'm glad I still rock a Scion emblem! Represent!!

Besides, this isn't "ToyotaLife.com" or "JDMLife.com"

Scion is a totally new car brand, and SOME people out there still don't know what it is, or who makes it. So the scion badge is cool with me. I just wish it were chrome, not plastic. I've been meaning to chrome mine, but I'm too lazy!

There are people in Japan every bit as nuts as the JDM tYte crowd here.

I have seen pictures of a guy in Japan's car who had transformed his Silvia into a 240SX - engine downgrade and all.

I don't get it... and that black bb may be one of the most horribly modified vehicles ever.

It's all in the family, it's all good. I've seen several pics like that of a Scion conversion. Now that I got my new grill, I don't have any badging except the grillcraft logos which are coming off and my scionlife plateframe...

I was trying to explain it to the cashier girl at the oil change place
So is it a Toyota?
Well technically, yes, but the make is actually a Scion.
So should I list it as a Toyota or a Scion?
Well, do you list Toyota and Lexus separately?
Yes
Then, it really should be listed as a Scion, but if you don't have that, call it what you need to.
So you want me to list it as a Lexus???
No, sorry, Nevermind, it's a toyota Scion :shakes head:

At least the techs are competent. One also proclaimed it the "sickest Scion" they had seen... So none of you guys better go by there and show me up...

So I was thinking about this topic while playing some GT4 tonight and this thought popped into my head.

Do you think Japanese tuner kids give crap to their friends who put tons of USDM stuff on their car? Would they be all like: "Dude, that body kit is soooo barbecue." or possibly "Man, did you see the tiny spoiler he has? That's totally pork!"

Okay, so I'm thinking pork is the anti-rice, right? Sorry, I thought it was funny at the time.
