Default Interior painting

Hey guys does anyone have experience with painting the interior in the tc1? I've painted it myself red and black a couple years ago and now the paint is wearing and chipping from the sun shining on it and etc. I didnt clear coat it (a foolish mistake) because i couldnt find the correct kind of clear coat, and theres not many places that do custom work like this here in Jersey..

I suggest getting Interior painted professionally as in getting Sprayed in a PAintbooth w/ Clearcoat...You will be able to clean it like the Exterior...Worth the money!

You could try wrapping it in vinyl yourself?

I've tried to take the waterfall and other pieces to places that do paint jobs, but they said "We dont mess with that kind of stuff." and when i asked why all they could say was its just something they dont get into.

If a shop won't paint them for you, it's probrably best not to go back to that shop anyways. IMO, they aren't interested in providing good service. Try another place.

You're absolutely right and i havent been back to them since. Ill just have to find a spray gun or something to properly clear coat it.

You can do a great job with spray cans, it's just all about prep and how much time you put into it. If you have high enough grit and patience, you can buff out orange peel and have something really nice.

Or you could think about going with a semigloss. I have semigloss/matte interior pieces because i like the look and i didn't want to screw with clearing anything. It also hides smudges and imperfections really well.

Well the problem is, i couldnt find any good clear coat in a can. I was looking for duplicolor clear coat in a can but couldnt find it any where. And yeah patience is the key. Do you have any pics of yours?

Spray Can Painting looks horrible no matter how careful you are!...

Looks gross after a while too...Starts to chip and then your Interior will look like ****.

Just find a paint shop that does it.

I never said it was as good of quality as a spray gun job, but my rattlecan jobs look good. 2 years painted, no chips, no swirls, no smudges.

Any auto body repair shop will work. Look at the kind of cars that are going in and out of the shop to see their quality of work.

And I've never heard anything good about maaco, i'd stray from them.

Not true this time, my friend!!!!!

OP, you don't have any auto paint stores in your area? For example, the one where I live mixes spray cans to match specific car colors, plus they sell auto clear coat in spray cans.

I found this link you can check out for clear coat sprays
http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

Here are pics of my setup. Yes, it's straight out of a ($114) spray can... Stupid Blizzard Pearl paint.

^^^ I was desert rat myself in Phoenix for several years... Kind of ironic "good vs. evil" when it comes to paint. Great temps & humidity levels to paint in... but then over time all of those extra rays can really beat on it even if you're being careful. lol..
Oh.. and I think your interior still looks good IMHO too.
I'll have to get some pics of mine up here too. With my tC being SCM, I went with actual SCM and BSP on my interior. But it was professionally sprayed in a booth by a good friend of mine. Just for comparison.
I think both can look very good as long as they're done right.
