I installed my K&N CAI on last week and it was running fine. Starting this Monday my car took a long time to start up. I went to the Dealer ship and they told me that the K&N CAI filter element has a lot of oil on it and some times it clogs the o2 sensor causing the computer send less fuel out. He told me to clean the sensor and wash out the filter element and re oil it lightly. “Is that true?”

Did any one have any similar problems with there K&N?

 

yes, thats actually true, if you go to the kn website, they tell you to be careful when you oil your filter because the o2 sensor might get messed up if you over oil it

 

Will I have to change the o2 sensor or just clean it?

 

im pretty sure you can just clean it off

 

you can probably clean it with gasoline or something. just dont drop it

 

are you talking about the 02 sensor in the exhaust?

 

No the intake sensor

 

It's not the O2 sensor, it's the airflow sensor in the intake. The O2 sensors are in the exhaust.

 

umm.... for a CAI isn't the airflow sensor in the engine bay? how would oil get from yer front fender to yer sensor?

 

since there was too much oil it probably got vaporized by the air rushing in and left a film over everything in the intake

 

What about the K&N drop in filter? is it worth it?

 

no, drop in filters dont really do much.
