Default Rebuild turbo or new turbo kit for my tc

Ok, so many of you know on here that right after I got the FRS last month the turbo in my tc blew on my greddy kit. I contacted Greddy and they quoted me $2000 for a new turbo (way too much for a turbo that size) and 450 to send to them for a rebuild which takes 4-6 weeks. I have been looking around at different turbo kits and for an extra 1000-1500 i can get a new setup. So with this being said I would like to know what kits people have on there tc and if i should buy a new turbo from greddy(probably wont for that price) or rebuild and/or get a whole new kit. Ptuning, descendant,Dezod,Tredstone ex. any input is greatly appreciated.

PS I have search a lot on the forms about these companies I just want personal input.

Thanks
Respectfully

They quoted you $2000 for a new turbo? Do you have the turbo that came with the kit?

GReddy is offering their kit for $1700 shipped now...

Sounds like you're at a cross road... good luck!

yea 2000, its the original turbocharger that came with the kit. I contacted them and they said they would sell me the whole kit for the special they have on here for 1700.Here's the thing. If I am going to spend another 1700 I want more hp.and I really don't need the rest of the extra parts laying around the house.

Get an external wastegate welded to the greddy manifold, get the turbo rebuilt and have the internal actuator welded shut. That way you can make more boost than what the internal wastegate is rated at (8.5 psi) i think..

Get the turbo rebuilt by greddy, and have them add an ADJUSTABLE wastegate.

Actually the seals are blown. Oil is now getting into the intercooler piping. And where can I find a rebuild kit at? Greddy stated that Mitsubishi does not sell the rebuild kit to individuals.

Tried asking them that, I was told that they will only replace it with the stock one do to it being a kit and that the manifold does not have a slot for an external wastegate.

Thats why you have an external wg flange welded to the front of the manifold for an ewg.

Here, do it yourself and save some money. Greddy is lying to you they just want your cash:

Update,Just got off the phone with Brandon from Ptuning I will be going up there this Saturday. Also had a chance to speak with Paul from Dezod for some feed back. I may put the Greddy kit up for sell and do a new setup not sure yet. Both party's were great and gave me good infomation, especially Brandon from Ptuning.

Ok ill look into it thanks, Question how long has this one lasted you. Is it same like the OEM one or upgraded parts ?

PS.Ptuning been working with me on this build so I might just bite the bullet and go with there kit. Also doing a transmission swap as well. its gotten to the point were I am like go big or go home.
