06 Scion tC Remote Starter help.
Hello everyone,
This is my first post since I have been trolling the forums getting knowledge and information since I have owned my 06 Scion tC since April of 2010.
I am currently installing a remote starter for my car and had some questions that I can’t locate the answers too.
I purchased a CompuStar CS601-s Remote Start Module as well as an iDatalink ADS-TB bypass module.
I have soldered the wires from the ignition harness to the wires to the remote starter.
I have used diagrams to match all the wiring and used my DMM to verify and test each wire to match it to the correct corresponding wire.
So my questions are as follows:
Where does the “black” keysense wire sit? I have searched in the steering column. I see several black wires. I have tried to test them since I read that it should read 12V when the key is in the ignition. Looking at the ignition cylinder I see 2 black wires coming from the bottom, as well as a clip with several wires of different colors coming out of it. Is the black wire in this clip the keysense. My testing (I might be doing it wrong) doesn’t show 12V when the key is in the cylinder. A picture of it would be helpful.
My second question about the remote starter is that it will not crank over the car. I can get it turn on like if you had the key in the ON position without the car started.
I am using this guide for the wiring to help me install the remote starter. (http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/....asp~TID~59369)
If I have the key in the ignition can it start the car if I have my foot on the clutch? There is no cranking sound just that it will light up the dashboard and do this 3 times then stop. If I start the car while it is trying to “remote start” I am able to remove my key from the ignition and the car stays running. I have to use the button on the remote to stop the car.
Currently I am working on just installing the remote starter and verifying that it works then going to move on to the bypass module and set up a clutch bypass or get a DEI sequence thing I have been reading about. I am at an impasse just trying to verify that everything is connected properly or if there is incorrect wiring on my part. I have an image of the install instructions from the manufactures; the black dots are the wires I got hooked up properly. The other ones I am unable to figure out if I need them or not.
Does the Green/White wire go to the Parking Brake switch?
DO I need the red/black wire installed to the green wire in the ignition harness?
Do I need the yellow/black installed to the tachometer sensing at the ODB connector?
With the main connector do I need the Green/White installed to test that it works?
I apologize for the long post; I am trying to give as much information as possible so I can get the best help possible.
I am in Utah and if anyone is a great installer and can lend some knowledge or a hand I can compensate with food or money.

Ok. I got my remote starter to work after using a relay to change the polarity of the 2nd starter.
I need help with the keysense wire. Anyone have a picture of it or the best way to locate it. Is it on the back of the plug with the main txct and code for the ADS-TB transponder instructions? Any one can help me?
