there should be 3 bolts take them off and place the bar over it and tighten the bolts. it will take you no more than 15 mins even with no automotive skills

It looks good, pretty clean. Especially on my color. I've never seen one on a flint mica but I'm sure it would look just as good. If you want to get it for a lower price you can go to www.mcgeorgeparts.com.

Do you have to remove the plastic cowl at the base of the windshield?

I have the same DC sports strut bar and this is one thing that I encountered when I did it:

chicago_guy said that you have to take off 3 bolts but for this strut bar, you only need to take off 2... the one closest to the engine and the one closest to the inside of the car (that one is the biggest _____ to take off and even a bigger _____ to put on.. ) if you have big fingers, you're screwed.. lol I have very skinny fingers and I had big trouble to put it back on because the bolt is under this piece of metal that will not let you put it back on easy... (that is on the right side of the car only by the way).

So what you can do is get some pliers and kinda bend the metal piece up a little bit to get more clearance to put the bolt back on.

Also, you have to take off a few of the plastic bolts that keep in place the plastic piece on top right above the working area...

it's a lot harder process than I remember from my Corolla but it's very nice when you finish it

Does the DC strut bar, Hotchkis strut bar, or any strut bar add to greater performance or do they just make the engine bay appearance better? I am thinking of getting one but I don't want it if it does absolutely nothing significant and is a pain in the @$$ to put on. I definitely don't want it if I have to
So what you can do is get some pliers and kinda bend the metal piece up a little bit to get more clearance to put the bolt back on.

Not true. You can feel it on turns. On my crappy old 200sx, strut bars really made huge difference. Not as big of a change on the tC.

From what ive experienced the front strut bar does make a difference. Have never had any experience with the rear swaybar, but from what ive seen on other posts, it adds more stability than the front bar does on the tC.

I have the DC sports dual-rod one. You have to take off 4 bolts. You have to grab those white plastic ****-things with a pliers and pull them off and just lift it off on the left side to expose the back bolt. (Be careful not to lose the other black plastic pieces that hold the cowl down!)

On the right side the back one is a little tough because when it gets to the top there's a little metal tab in the way to take it off. Grab it with a pliers and pull it out. Putting that one back on is tricky - just be careful not to drop it. You'll get it on with a little persistance.

Oh and if you're wondering the bar does fit around the bottle on the right side and over the wiring harness - don't have to push any of those anyplace else or do anything funky to get the bar on.

It does make a big difference I have the TRD sway bar and the DC sports strut bar, and it handles awesome around corners, and killer response. And the install of both were a snap did it tne garage.

I just installed my DC strut bar. it didnt come with instructions, so i downloaded the ones for the hotchkis bar, just for instructions on how to take out the hood cowl. Took about half an hour to install the bar, and yeah, the worst part was that bolt on the driver's side, under that metal flap. Anyway, just remember to torque your bolts down to 59 ft-lbs. Cant tell if it makes a difference; drove around and it feels like a stiffer ride, but the difference is just subtle enough to be psychological..
