Hey. For 2005, I see that Scion has added a tint to factory glass. Does anyone know what % of tint is on the front side windows (driver and passenger doors)?

Also, does anyone know what the tint is for the other windows?

OK, when I got my xA, NONE of the windows had factory tint.

Now, the vehicles are coming with tinted rear windows (I think around 35%) and tinted front (they look like 7-10%).

SO, I need to know what the tint is on replacement factory windows in the front because my windows are TOO dark for my state.

and it's not dealer installed? I never heard of this! And from my understanding, most manufacturers do not tint front windows, as it is illegal in many states.

Yeah. . . I just went through Scion's website. . . I can't find it anywhere listed that the xA's are available with tinted windows/privacy glass. It does mention that the xB comes with privacy glass, but says nothing about the xA.

If this is new, then it's beyond me. . . but from what I understand, the only way to get tint on an xA is to go aftermarket, or have it installed seperately by the dealer. I'm almost certain that none come from the factory that way.

 

Maybe I'm getting the info wrong, but I called a glass replacement company (Giant Glass) and they told me that the factory replacement windows for the front of the xA were tinted to at least 93% (7%), very light. But still a tint.

Then, I saw an xA in the showroom at my dealer when I was cashing in my $50 gift card and the car had near privacy on the back and a light tint on the front.

I dunno. I just have 20% all around and it's muy illegal in MA. So I need to replace the two front windows/retint the two front windows/or just peel the tint off the two front windows.

Suggestions?

Yeah 93 sounds possible (to keep everything from melting inside). . . I think most auto glass is around there. . .

In terms of getting tint off, there were a couple threads on it awhile back. . . I forgot what they were called.

 

the best way to take tint off is windex (with ammonia) and a straight edge razor.....spray and scrape....spray and scrape...

also, the way tint % is measured is by the amount of light that is still allowed to pass through the tint.....therefore, 35% would be much darker than 96%.....just a little piece on info to try to keep the confusion down....

 

Got mine with 35% tint (legal limit in Florida)
