You sound like a professional football player or the Incredible Hulk. How do you survive a hit by a car going 70 mph?

I would be shocked that the frame isn't bent. Unibody cars suck after an accident that bends the frame. I'm shocked they are fixing it and not totaling it out.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I must say, however, that the person who hit you couldn't have been travelling at 70mph at the time of impact (unless he was on a motorcycle, or fired out of a cannon, I suppose.) I would be surprised if the car that hit you was going more than 30 mph at the time of impact.

I agree the force of a 70mph car hitting you from behind would have destroyed 50 to 70 percent of the car and you would have been in the hospital. Im very glad your ok though.

I walked away from a HEAD-ON of about the same magnitude.. I was turning left with a green arrow at 5-10mph and an uninsured idiot woman (trying to be nice) in the lane I'm turning into, coming at me at ~65mph. My Saturn absorbed everything.. it was totalled -- the entire front end was above or behind the front wheels. I had two scratches from hitting my keys in the ignition -- that's it.

Stranger things have happened I guess!

Rally -- glad to hear you're ok!

You could probably complain to (or more accurately, sue) Scion about the seat. It's not supposed to collapse like that when you get rear-ended. A number of car manufacturers have been sued for similar engineering defects. You might want to talk to a lawyer.

I walked away from a head-on where I was going 35 and the other guy was going 45. He came over the double yellow, and they had to pry our cars apart with 2 tow trucks. I was fine, just a scratch on the wrist from where I cut myself when the steering wheel broke and was pushed forward. Anything's possible, but I also doubt taht the guy was doing 70mph.

70 - 5 = 65mph crash, that seems a lot. Your back window should be completely shattered. This looks more like a < 30mph collision.
