Default Am I crazy for wanting an xB?

Hey folks.

I own a beautiful Super White '04 Matrix XRS 6spd with power windows, locks, mirrors, intermittent front and rear wipers, tilt wheel, cruise control, ABS, moonroof, keyless entry, in-dash 6 disc changer, full body kit with fog lamps, TRD springs, TRD STB, TRD exhaust, TRD grille, Progress RSB, 17x7.5 Moda R6's with 235/45 Pirelli P-Zero Neros, SilverStars in lows/highs/fogs, ect., ect.

In other words? Fully loaded, great looking and quick.

But, for some crazy reason I kind of dig the Box. Other than getting a little better MPG and burning 87 octane fuel (the XRS burns premium), it has no logical advantages over my XRS......yet I'm somehow drawn to it.

Am I nuts for contemplating this swap?

Default the BOX ROX!

the BOX ROX!

i have owen one for about a month now, and the following will are facts and questions you will be faced with if you go with an xb

1) better fuel economy

2) similar amount of cargo area

3) more modern dash layout ( almost ooks custom)

4) more original ( will stand out ina crowd ) your matrix does not in stock form ...

5) people walking up to you asking what is it

6) people walking up to you asking what does it run on

7) people walking up to you saying , "thats f/ing ugly why did you buy it)

people walking up to you saying " awsome car , i love it"

9) more of a challange to make it fast

10) more fun to put accesories on

Not at all. The Matrix has that similar swoopy shape to many other cars on the road. The xB is more unique and for some reason boxy always comes out looking good after a little customizing.

xB is awesome. You are NOT crazy. Like my b/f says, "xB owners are all a bit quirky!"

I actually wanted a Matrix before I test drove the xB. Then I fell in love! I am also a bit of an attention ***** so I love it when people stare at my car and walk up and ask me what the heck it is!

It's also cool to honk and wave at other xB owners on the road! It's like a neat little club... Even if you don't know each other, you've got a ton in common... Like your awesome choice of vehicles!!

The only differnece I see is that the matrix comes in 6 speed. Anything else mentioned above can be done to the XB. As far as stock for stock, the XB is just way cooler, roomier, and more efficient. Plus, being that the matrix is a 6 speed it's no speed deomon But hey that's just me....XB XB XB

Thanks for all your comments so far folks. Keep 'em coming.

My wife and I took a 5spd xB on an extended test drive a couple of weeks ago. We both really liked it, yet we had some reservations.

1. The Trix has a lot more rear cargo room with rear seats up vs. the Box.
2. Our particular Trix has quite a bit more equipment.
3. The Box had a lot more road noise and more of a hollow feel to it.
4. And or course, the biggest issue....power. There is simply no comparison between the two. My XRS will walk the Box at will without even trying....period.

But, in the end, power/acceleration isn't everything. We really like the odd styling.

It may not be fair to compare the two directly......but.....that's what I have to do here.

I've got some serious soul searching to do.

You'll be happy W/ the Xb i'm sure, especially since you already own a similar style vehicle.

xBs are made of people! PEOPLE! Do you and your wife race your cars? Or have fits of highway road rage only cured by wild acceleration and 1g hairpin turns? If none of that applies, it's down to looks/personal taste, and the trunk space you mentioned. With 1 child or less you can flip part or all of the back seat down for more room. The xB has more passenger room than the Matrix, at least for us tall people.
