Default so what exactly happens when your shocks blow?

^^^^^I was wondering because I am thinking about getting the TRD springs and just riding the stocks shocks until they blow. I'm thinking theres no point in wasting good shocks. So what exactly happens when the shocks blow? Will I immediately know and is it something that requires immediate replacement?

you car is super bouncy and ride quality = suck.

yes ur suspension = suck whent it comes to bumps on the road.

my shocks are blown, been runnin on blown shocks for 2-3 months now.

going on a curve or watever no prob, but if there is a bump, it wunt hold the rebound to well thus making ur car a lil bouncy and mayb a lil wheel hop if your going fast enough through a turn

TRD springs are very mild drop springs, they only drop just over an inch. You still have plenty of shock travel to go with so you don't have to worry about blowing shocks anytime soon.

If the shocks do blow early (not likely) it's not dangerous or anything. You'll just hear a metal thumping sound coming from the area of the blown shock when the rod hits the stops. You're ride will be crappier and bouce all around potholes.

i think "haha" is running on tein s-techs. theres alot of people on this forum running on s-techs, but i do not recomment the easy way of lowering your car. when you change the springs go with the TRD struts/shock combo. with the TRD springs + stock struts are ok, but will wear alot faster then the stock springs. i installed the TRD lowering springs and i love the height and ride on it. i wouldnt risking lowering on s-tech without changing the struts/shocks. just my 2 cents

on mine i had compression and no rebound. the strut/shock is supposed to come back out after you push it in. oh, and the rod was a nice rainbow color from the shock overheating, hehe.

when mine blows hopefully tokiko has came out with struts for the TC, cause they will be just as good, but cheaper than the TRD ones

Does anyone offer an aftermarket damper for the tC built for lowering springs? I'd appreciate any assistance. i've already done searches and saw some indication of Koni releasing some. Any ETA's?

Thanks, Rishie

tats correct, i have S techs, my shocks blew out because the drop is harsh, spring rate is harsh, on the stock shocks, i highly suggest gettin shocks and springs at teh same time, the only reason why i didnt do that is because i want adjustable shocks. if they arent adjustble.. to me, they are not worth buying!

side note, rumor has it is that tokico is not going to develop adjustable shocks/struts for the TC

I'm more interested in just replacement aftermarket struts/shocks. I am aware of the full coilover options but am looking for something more reasonable for an older more conservative type of client.

I am aware of TRD currently, when is koni, bilstein, or tokico coming out?

Thanks, Rishie

How long after the install did the shocks blow? I just got my S. Techs installed over the weekend and so far so good

I want koni to start making shocks for the tC so badly. Their yellow's would be perfect.
