I was wondering if getting these springs and having them installed by a body shop would void my warranty? please reply asap. thanks in advance.

Okay... i just got off the phone with on of the managers at longo scion. the TRD Springs will NOT void your warranty if they are installed properly.

:)... now i have to find a good place to order them for a good price.

any help is appreciated. thanks in advance

umm... not to be obnoxious about it or anything by pointing out the obvious... but... common knowledge is that...

A dealership cannot void your warranty due to aftermarket parts when something goes wrong, and the only way they can deny warranty work on a part in question is if they can prove the aftermarket part caused the problem. If the aftermarket part IS the problem, it's YOUR problem.

and BTW, there isn't really a warranty on shocks/springs because they are considered a wear and tear item, and even if something went wrong which would count under warranty like abnormal wear regardless of being stock or not I know they will try and play the wear and tear card. Unless one of your stock shocks blows or a shock rod bends or a spring explodes there really isn't anything they want to warrant, although they'll probably have to. (and if any of the above happened, they would probably blame it on misuse/abuse)

buy your springs somewhere for cheap, have them installed by a mechanic who knows what they are doing for cheap and enjoy them. Get new aftermarket shocks when the stock ones blow, or save the trouble of a re-install and buy new shocks when you get new springs.

that's a little bit of a broad statement that might be misleading

even if you installed the springs with a monkey holding a wrench the only thing that would be voided is the springs themselves and anything directly related to them (the shocks) so say you didn't even PUT a spring on a shock and you dragged your muffler against the ground and hit a bump and blew that shock, the dealer would not warrant the blown shock or repairs to your muffler, but every other part of your warranty would be valid.

No it doesn't have to be done at the dealership. As long as they can't prove the installation was done inproperly, your warranty will in effect.

Not always true. My brother took his RSX-S to the dealer because of gear grind (1st to 2nd) and they blamed it on his springs / drop. Now i don't know how they came up with that BS.

hahaha, that's why even though I LOVED the RSX-S I test drove and the SRT4...I bought the tC. More give for customization and being straight forward with the sales and shop staff

Otocan *is* correct. Do a search for the Moss/Magnussen act (not sure about the spelling on the second name). For a dealer to void your warranty for aftermarket parts, the basic gist is that the delaer must *prove*, not simply state, that aftermarket parts either directly caused part failure, or were installed improperly and hence caused failure.

So for example.....you put on a borla cat back exhaust, and your speedometer melts. There is no way those two items could possibly be linked. Scion is fixing your speedo.

Lets say you go out and get a stage3 turbo, and after runnning 18 psi of boost, your engine blows up. Scion would have a pretty easy time proving that the turbo caused undo stress on the engine, and *you* would be paying for the engine rebuild.

So, your brother having his car's transmission warranty voided due to
suspension drop was total crap. The dealer would have had to prove that putting on thos springs somehow broke the internal parts on his transmission.
