cai yes another one ugh lol
heres a slightly different question
i have the injen sri and i would like to do the cai
where can i get the extra pipping for it to add on my sri to make it into a cai
for my "xA"
oh geee's not much planning/thought goes on in making my questions how awful is that
i hope that my question got the point across/out

i think injen does make the extension kit for the sri to convert to the cai type. check this website out. http://www,optauto.com, they have the kit for sale i think.
yeah not out at least not for the xa that's why I reccommend the k&n to xa guys . sorry dude just wiat it shall come. that or have an exhaust shop make you some pipingto go between the pipe now and wherever you want the filter to go. . it'd be alot cheaper.
My take on Cold Air intakes vs Short Ram intakes...
It doesnt take much to heat up air... So, while you have metal piping that is soaking up heat it is also heating the air inside... So no matter what length of intake tubing you have by the time the air reaches the throttle body it is already heated up to a warmer tempreture...
So what I look for in an intake system is not only the design but also the length of the tubing... the longer the tubing the harder the motor has to work to suck in the air... Short Ram intakes usually perform better when it comes to this...
Now on the Dyno its another story...
YOu typically have fans that are blowing air not too fast around the car... The colr air intakes place the filters out side of the engine bay so the air from the these fans hit them easier...
In every day driving, the air that passes by the cold air intake filters is usually fast and turbulant... Making it harder for the intake to draw air into the filter (in most cases of cold air intake design, some filters are placed in less-turbulant areas and those perform better on the road)...
Short ram intakes the filter is generally placed where air moves around but is not too turbulant so the intake can easly draw air into the filter... These opperate more effectiantly in every day driving especially at high speeds...
So some times Cold Air Intkes make more on the Dyno... but Short Rams make more on the Butt-Dyno...
Just my take......

I too am not a believer in the CAI hype... IMO an intake is an intake is an intake... the filter is the biggest difference.
If you have a nice filter on there and a free-flowing pipe, you are good.
If you really want to extend the SRI you could just buy some mandrel bends from JC Whitney and fabricate an extension, I'm sure that would be cheaper than buying one from Injen.
