MB QUARTS IN THE XB!?
Okay, so im looking at purchasing MB Quart reference series 6.5" components for the front of my xB and i was wondering if anyone had suggestions/comments/ideas on how to amp them/what to get for the back and their quality... thanks a lot.
MB Quart makes some extremely good speakers. However, they used to make only high end [expensive] speakers, but they have begun to enter the market at all levels of quality. They make from the Discus series all the way up to there premium and Q-seies. I currently run their 6.5 Q series in my Dodge Ram and they are crystal clear; however, from what I have heard is that the less expensive series', discus and reference lack in some the quality that MB Quart stands for.
I decided to switch to some Mephis M-Class components for the Scion and they are awesome. I would venture to say that they comete fairly well with my MB's in the truck.

The MBs or Image Dynamics components would sound great..
As far as a set-up, it all depends on how much you want to do.
Ideally, you could look at putting mid-bass in the door, and then kickpanels with mid-ranges and tweeters.
I'd disconnect the rear speakers altogether and go with a sub, perhaps JL or ID.
As for power, I don't know enough about amps to recommend anything. I'm curretnly looking at putting in a 5 or 6" component system into my echo.. woofers in the doors and tweeters flush mounted to my dash speaker grills. Haven't decided on a sub, but I'm thinking about an 8 or 10" ID..
Power-wise, I was looking at the JBL P180.2 or the P80.4 bridged for the fronts and a BP300.1 or 600.1 for the sub.
Check out elitecaraudio.com.. some great discussions there.

thats a big car inside.... dont kill ur rear spkrs.
i use focal, very good quality, reasonable price for the mid level stuff. try the polyglass 6.5" components, thats what i have and theyre great. actually im looking to sell them cuz im makin fiberglass door panels so pm me if ur interested.
i wouldnt reccommend ne mb quarts below the premium series.

before you go to far in what your saying, just remember mb is made by fosgate now. unfortunately they are no longer the same quality as what they used to be, i carried mb in my stores for the last 9 years and since fosgate bought them ive have seen them consistently go down hill. check around before you buy there are alot of great spks out there in all types of price range.... figure out what you are willing to spend and then start looking from there. there is no sence in someone showing you 500.00 spk if you can only afford 150.00 know what im saying? but then again i just got finished installing a set of rainbow reference spks (which run $7000.00 for the set) to a guy who was just looking to upgrade the spks in his mini. sometimes when your listening to spks you will run into something that you just have to have.......
mb quart is cheap.....i paid 50bucks for the 6.5 reference component set....granted i have a wholesale liscence.....but still even wholesale the mb quarts are cheaper then rockford fosgate, phonenix gold, jl audio, infinity..etc..etc...that tells me allot about them....and they dont sound all that great honestly....one of the family business's was a car stereo shop....heard many speakers....mb quart is over rated......
and as for rainbow...expensive but after i heard them powered by some custom tube car amps....the sound was so warm...detail insane....just hope u dont have to pay retail for them...ouch

From what I understood, Fosgate has only taken over the lower end of MB Quart, they have yet to get a handle on the Q Series, which from what I heard is still currently being produced in Germany rather than China with Fosgate.
And I am not sure how many professional installers would agree with the point that "MB Quarts are overrated." Their construction of their top of line speakers is phenomenal.

Put it this way, i have 1000 dollars to spend on my door speakers and amps/wiring. What is the most bang for my buck?! (p.s. i can't get subs yet.... don't ask... i don't want to think more about it
) I appreciate everyone's opinions so everyone should put their 2 cents in.
i can vouch for the polyglasses. i have the 5.25 components in the front of my box, and 5.25 coaxials in the rear.
they sound great. really smooth and detailed not harsh at any volume.
they dont get AS loud as some others, but loud enough, and the quality definately makes up for it.

okay i think im going to buy the polyglass setup but what did you use to amp them? im looking at an alpine 55Wx4 4 channel amp.. i've heard good things about their amps. I can't find anything to give the components 60 and the coaxals 50.... any tips?
