Default Tune up help

When is it best for a tune up for our cars. for example changeing the tranmission oil, spark plugs etc. My car is at 38,000 miles and I was wondering if it is that time for a tune up.
Any advice will be helpfull

I need to know mostly about the transmission oil change.
THANK YOU

I replaced the tranny fluid with Amsoil Synthetic ar 4000 miles. Only because prior experience with the Amsoil has been excellent.
Most likely your fluid is ok unless you have been doing some extreme driving. It is easy to do yourself and it only tales 3 to 4 quarts. The drain plug is right on the bottom of the tranny, uses a 10mm hex type socket. Also, get a new aluminum washer from the dealer. Understand that when you just drain the fluid like this, some fluid remains in the torque converter and valve body that will not drain. There are places that drain the fluid with special machines that say they get it all. However, for my money a simple drain and replace every 30 or 40 K is more than enough.

^^ this is all true.
Most of the fluid is still stuck inside the tranny. What i used to do is to do a drain and fill. then drive around for a little bit then do it again untill the color looks better. When you drain the fluid all you have to do is to put exactly the same amount that came out back in.

Toyota recommends getting your tranny flushed @ 30k mile intervals if i remember correctly.

Open up your med kit, and inside you will find the Maintenance Guide that will
tell you when you are supposed to do these things!!

P.S. Don't ask me why they put it in the Med Kit, I had to call the dealership to find
mine because I wanted to RTFM. Med kit was the next to last place I thought to look.
