Do they wear out eventually? Probably a dumb question but just curious if aftermarket springs have a shorter life span then stock springs.

if they're crap, then yeah they'll eventually sag beyond use.. but good companies offer a 1,000,000 mile warranty.

Yeah, cheap springs can fail. Even factory springs can fail
if they have been abused.

But generally, quality springs, not abused, should outlast
the car!

Thanks guys. I went with Tein H techs. From everything I have read, they seem to be a reputable company.

TEINs will prolly outlast the vehicle. As stated crap springs will prolly take a dump once they are overloaded a few times. Most reputable spring compnaies have springs that are either lifetime or 1 million mile warranties.

Coil springs last so well because modern steels and heat treatments of spring-tempered steel are so very good.

Coil springs work on what principle? Hmmm! They are -torsion springs-

really, no different than the torsion -bar- springs on the old Mopar products.

The first American car with coil springs (rather than leaf springs) was the Brush of the 1910 era. It had no dampers. It's front axle was the trunk of a tree. It was a good little car, but jouncy!

The leaf spring is another class of spring. It is not a torsion spring.

and none of this is so germane here except to say that good, modern springs are Old Tech fully matured and highly reliable if well-made. Modern manufacturing techniques are wonderfully good. Henry Ford pioneered the concept of close-quality control in cheap, mass-market parts for automombiles.

I have TRD springs with stock shocks n struts, the shocks and struts feel ready to be replaced with 16,000 on the car, are they dead or am I imagining?
(as long as we're talking life span of suspension parts I thought id ask)

I got Hotchkis springs and after I installed them I did'nt think the car looked low enough. But after two weeks they have definetly sagged a bit more. I hope they don't sag any more because the tires already rub when I turn the wheel all the way. Also when my son and his girlfriend are in the back seat (210# & 120#) there is almost no suspension left.

Without knowing specifics of automotive springs, all springs will eventually settle in to a slightly shorter lnegth after use. It's normal AFIK. I take a pair of pliers and compress new springs in my R/C cars' slipper clutches and differentials so I don't have to tighten them as the spring breaks in.
