Hey, has anyone converted the window at the back of the car to a power window? I was wondering about tinting the back window completely black, but having the option of the window lowering if I need to see out the back or if I get pulled over would be useful. thanks.

it is going to be impossible without making the rear window alot smaller .

and you'd have to ditch the rear wiper. and do alot of work it's possible but it wouldnt look factory.

Sounds good. Would really improve ventalation flow when windows were down.

It is going to require a total rebuild of the rear hatch, it CAN be done, but it's not something a weekend warrior with a welder is going to accomplish. If done RIGHT, it would still look relatively factory.
The "easiest" method of this is one, all the hardware has to be shaved to make room, plate box, wiper motor, everything. When you get done, you'd have a smaller window that rests in a recessed channel. Would look like a smaller version of a 4Runner rear glass - or as on an older Bronco or K5 Blazer. You would have to also fabric new outside D-pillar sheet metal as the glass would not go all the way to the edge as it currently does.
Something "similar" that I've been debating for the last year is to just make the 1/4 glass power vent outward with a switch the same as on bigger SUV's and Minivans. "Simple" to do (compared to that back glass project) and would make for a nice breeze. - but now I don't think I want to experiment on my clear JDM glass. -- but it's an idea.

i had pondered this as well a while back, but it will be alot of work as windowtint stated

The main concern would be drawing in exhaust fumes when that rear hatch window is open and the vehicle is moving. Carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the main reasons most car manufactures do not have an optioning roll down window for the rear hatch if the exhaust also exits the rear of the car.
