Did anyone install a car alarm for yout TC?
As you know there's no alarm for the TC, just a panic button, which is completely useless. Anyway, did anyone bother installing one? I'm just curious. Do you think it's a good thing to add? I might consider adding one.
Viper 900, got it for cost. I bought the remote start module but not going to use it so now so it is for sale.
This is a fairly advanced unit to work with but I have some connections for documentaion, etc. ;) It was a bit of a pain because I do things a bit more involved that shops do when installing my alarms. I am more concerned with getting vandalized, stealing parts, audio gear, etc, etc, than vehicle theft.
The Python is the same as a Viper model with a different logo and color of the remote, not sure which model, it is on the DEI site if anyone wants to find out.
The unit has a 2 way pager which is very nice, in my case when on the road for shows and racing when I have to leave it parked unatteneded. We have a huge amount of time and money into this project, just cannot buy a replacement and be done with it, hundreds of hours of our blood sweat and tears goes into our project cars.
We added an optional digital tilt and motion sensor, I can set it for 1 degree of tilt change incase somebody tries to carefully jack it up and steel the tires, brakes, etc.
Also added a proximity sensor that can give warning beeps, let me know somebody is snooping around, it will go full tilt and much louder than regular sirens if needed.
All wiring is embedded deeply into the factory harness including how the unit is powered.
The unit cannot be reached to try and disarm or jumper around it. There is a strong metal mesh over the unit and all wiring connections coming out of it with very rare security screws that are not easy to remove.
All connections are soldered and covered with heat shrink, then taped and bundled into the factroy harnesses.
There is an inside siren that about makes you puke, very nasty little unit.
The car cannot be driven away, period. It can be towed but it will not be started later on without a huge amount of effort that very few thieves would have the slightest clue how to do it.
If anyone messes with it within the range of the pagers limits, I will never be beyond the pagers limits, I will be there in short order.
All that said, I have great insurance with very low deductibles. I have several project cars with upwards of $20k in audio gear and never had a single thing stolen except 25+ years ago and all they got was a broken cassette deck, lol!
