Final Drive
It has been brought to my attention that the Scions in the states have a 4.31:1 final drive in the transmission, were as my Echo Hatch has a 3.72:1 final drive.
Can anyone verify this, and if they can, where can I get a Scion tranny?

Your best bet is to check with a used parts dealer who has a nationwide hookup with many others dealers. He will be able to locate one and even arrainge transportation if necessary.

Raven, just check the yellow pages and see who has the biggest ad under the used auto parts. Give them a call. Almost all the reputable dealers who have been in business for a long time can offer this type service.

Also, I just did a Google search on "Used Auto Parts" and got a gazillion hits on places that have nationwide service. I plugged in an xb radio and got a dozen hits on just the first site listed.

bad news guys. I went to my Toyota dealership today to do some parts checking.
My echo hatch diff gear part number is 41221-10181, the same as a CDM 2002 Sedan....
Does this mean I have the 3.52, or the 3.71?
Is their anyway to check with my tire height and dyno chart?
The good news is that the Scion part number is different (41221-12340) so, there is some truth to that statement, but I'm curious about the sedan/hatch now.
You guys are at 4,000 rpm at 130 k?
HOT DAMN thats low gears.
I assumed you counted teeth? Is their anyway to check without taking my tranny apart. I'd love to help you whatever way I can Dave.

i'll tell you what Final you have....(most likely you have the 3.52 )
what year is your hatch 2004?
i think its the same for both models that year and on...
2000 - 2003 should have the other gears.
and i did count teeth....
Mine is a 2005. at 130 kph I'm turning just over 3000 rpm on the tach. I am driving on 195/55R15's which are about 2% shorter than stock, which shouldn't make that big of an impact.

a 3.52 FD would turm 3522RPM @ 130KPH
a 3.72 FD would turn 3722RPM @ 130KPH
i say you have the 3.52
xB REFERENCE INFO: (previously posted)
Code:
880 * 4.15 * 0.70 = 2556.4 RPM
(rev per mile) * (final ratio) * (top gear ratio) = (engine RPM at 60MPH)
====
Just using the stock tire size, the differential ratio, and the top gear ratios of
the xB with manual or auto transmission I come out with these figures, plus
or minus maybe 10 RPM...
AUTOMATIC:
2560 RPM @ 60 MPH
2990 RPM @ 70 MPH
MANUAL:
3070 RPM @ 60 MPH
3580 RPM @ 70 MPH
====
Gear / Ratio C150 5MT U340E 4AT
1st 3.54:1 2.84:1
2nd 1.90:1 1.55:1
3rd 1.31:1 1.00:1
4th 0.96:1 0.70:1
5th 0.81:1 –
Reverse 3.25:1 2.34:1
Final Drive 4.31:1 4.15:1
Stock tire revolutions per mile = ~880 (Varies by tire make, size, wear, etc.)
