Color Question for all JDM Gurus!
Well heres probably my "duh" question that everyone will call me stupid for.
First: What is the open deck yellow color?
Is it Solar Yellow? It looks lighter.
Second: When was the Blue Mica run on the bBs? As in, how long ago?
Third: Did Toyota ever make a red bB in Japan? If so, what was it called?
The reason I'm asking is I like the Open Deck yellow in pictures (but not a fan of Solar Yellow in person) Its hard to tell if theyre the same i think. The blue Mica I love but I dont want a color thats REALLY outdated. It's out of production now according to Toyota Japan. I like red.
I'm repainting the box with two-tone and want to stick to authentic JDM colors here (call me stupid and flame away if you want). i want that theme throughout, including the oringinal colors. So if you can give any help to me it would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer to go with a bB color that has never been available in the states.
Thanks,
Scott

The bB-OD (NCP34) is not Solar Yellow, it's a flatter cream yellow. I don't have the paint code or it's "correct" name, but it's not SY. There are a handful of different Toyota yellows.
Can anyone please help me out?!
I'm gonna get the car repainted soon hopefully and need to know some color codes!
I beg of you all.
I know Blue Mica.
I'm really looking for the bB open deck yellow though.
Mucho help would be appreciated!

I'll "rephrase" - there is a O.D. that came in a color very similiar to Solar Yellow - but that's still not the one I know he's asking about.
The yellow code he wants is to a color that looks a lot like the shade that was on a late 70's Dodge Aspen (seriously). Creamy Yellow. I looked, and I can't seem to find it. I could replicate it in a color chip book, but it wouldn't be the authentic JDM color - and that is the whole point after all.

yep windowtint hit the nail on the head.
i would settle for the JDM OD yellow or even more so the color red that the bBs came in. is that absolute red that was on those?
i feel like a question ***** here but im just not really sure about the JDM colors they have. ive compared and contrasted the JDM vs. OEM colors now and theres really no diff. besides Hot Lava is available there.
theres gotta be someone out there that knows all the bB color codes

im done all the translations and such. still cant figure it out. its killing me. ive tried as many translation sites as I could find and nothing
they seem to never say it. and i cant find the archives on where the bB would be

So, you want to limit yourself to a set of colors you don't know to show other people, that also don't know, that it is true JDM?
I keed I keed. (You knew someone was gonna do it)
I'll stop now.

I went and checked on Goo (major Japanese auto site), and to answer your first question, the Open Deck's yellow was called, simply enough, "Yellow". The yellow for the first gen bB's was called "Yellow Mica Metallic". I've seen the Yellow Mica in person, and it's much paler than Solar Yellow -- almost has a faded feel to it. Never saw an Open Deck in any color, though, so can't help there. To answer your second question, "Blue Mica" ran from 2/2000 when the bB was introduced, to 3/2003, when the 2nd gen bB's debuted and the color was dropped for "Dark Blue Mica". And for the last question, there have been no factory bB's in Japan ever produced in red -- closest color is "Orange Metallic", or Hot Lava as we know it here.
This site has pics of 2000 xBs and they have two different yellows:

Bellow the price of only 69.0 thousand yen or 6,176.68 dollars for the car that has 4000 km or 24854.8 miles is the color. In katakana it says yellow mica metallic.
