Default New York Reaction to my XA

I just got my XA on Sunday. I drive to Manhattan to work every day, all I can say is driving my XA is positively dangerous. Several times people have gotten out of their cars at red lights to check it out (this scares the sh*t out of me). This one guy in an Escalade chased me down the Westside Highway just to get a good look then sped off giving me the finger. Twice now people just blocked me from moving forward one guy stopped to look while the light cycled twice from green to red. When I went to fill up the car with gas today a crowd started forming around my car, they screamed questions at me, and when I didn't answer I thought they were going to mob me. All I wanted was a small car that's easy to park. I was born in London where small cars are quite common. I think I'm going to garage the car for a few weeks because my hart just cant take it.

Im starting to get worried, I hate people. I dont want people talking to me on the street. It's taken me years to develop the "dont look at me" stare, and now a car purchase could ruin it! Im gettin an xB and am not ready to be a scion PR rep.

LOL... They are just freakin' out...

Remember, they are the ones with issues. You're alright. Try to stay calm...

They'll get used to it in time. Specially after more Scions appear.

It's actually hard to give advice to ya... except to ride it out.
Funny that the xA is considered less radical than the xB.

Get used to it...Some other drivers seem to have a complex about these driving in front of them. You can tell if they hate the cars or not by the way they drive past. Some will cut you off, some will hangout in the blindspot and gawk till you miss your exit. It will wear off but it still happens, I would have thought the staring would have stopped by now in CA. Not yet.

When I came back to my car today after work I found half the local public school using my XA as their personal couch. One would think that when the owner returns the kids would disperse, but no! not in NY they just ignored me and carried on lounging until I started the engine.

Default their momma better teach em some manners

I hate that, when people make couches outta your ride ! Argh, I got in a fight in downtown over that when some vendors were making a table on my old Mustang... I was so ____ed... I can't repeat the filth that came outta my mouth... mostly because I don't recall it...

Default I am a bit worried about this reaction too!

I have considered this as a possible pain in the butt.

I have been looking for a Scion CONSTANTLY since I started shopping for one, and I will tell you, Toyota is doing something wrong. There are no Scions anywhere in new england.

I will post what it is like when I get mine in a week or two. I will get looks, I know, I hope I don't get harrassed! Maybe I should get a 9mm accessory just in case!

This always happens with a new-to-market vehicle (especially when they don't look like anything else on the road). I remember 4 years ago when I got my Focus ZX3. I couldn't go ANYWHERE without being stopped and asked "what the hell izzat?" or "izzat the new V-Dubya?" or "can I sit in it?" (That was the best one--I was in the middle of rush hour traffic). Now they're everywhere, and I don't want mine anymore.

The scionatic frenzy should subside once the market gets more saturated, but JDM is right, wait'll they see the xB!!
