Default Problem with auto-dim mirror?

Ok...this thing hasn't worked right since the day I got the car. (or maybe I'm just not using it right)

First, shouldn't I be able to turn the green light on and off as I please, it just says that the dim feature is on/off right? The mirror will randomly turn on and off during the day and has rarely even worked at night when I want it to. In my parents new town and country the mirror/green light can be turned on and off and you please...it just won't dim until night. Mine doesn't even do that.

Also I don't think the ambient feature is working correctly either. I push and hold the button for a few seconds and the light will change colors, but when I let go of the button the light just turns off and doesn't stay that color.

I've had my tC about 2 months now and the dealership *says* that they replaced it...twice. They second time I brought it in they tried to blame it on my tint that I got 2 weeks ago but I explained to them that the mirror has never worked right since the day I got it.

tint will effect of dimming of course. but as for the changing colors, I had problems with mines too. I wanted mines to be green all the time whenever its on. But now its like "cuad" it turns on whenever my lights are on, which doesn't bother me. But if the key is out of the ignition and i want to turn on the light its white. That's perfect for me. Just mess around with it, you'll get it sooner or later.

To change the color you have to hold the "map light" button for about 10-15 seconds or more. I've played around with it and once you get the hang of it you will be able to get everything how you want. So just play around with it until it's right.

Went to the dealership and talked to my salesman who is a really cool guy. I checked and the mirror doesn't turn on with my headlights. They only thing he could suggest is to have the technician look at it again or maybe someone higher up.

It really doesn't need to work now that I have my tint but I shouldn't have to have a broken mirror just because I have tint.

Mine doesn't turn on/off with my lights. I manually turn it on/off.

It could be a difference in where it was wired into. It used to be run differently when they were first installed, then they realized it was easier to wire it in with the control panel where the lights & sunroof controls are.
