Hey im curious if i buy the exact same parts they sell at the dealers, like the AEM intake, or the TRD Exhaust and install it myself, does it void the warranty??? If it does, is there anyway to get around this? I heard on some cars dealers put stickers on the car so they know if it was installed by a dealer or not... or is it in the dealers computer???
basically if i went to one dealership with a problem and they said, hey we didnt install this intake, would i be able to say, a different dealership installed it for me???
i have an XB with Rims and factory spoiler, i just dont wanna do anything to mess up the warranty...
Thanks alot...

It's not like they will cancel your warranty if they see you've strapped some aftermarket stuff on it. The only time it will matter is if something major happened that was caused by the aftermarket part. If your engine takes a crap, they can't just say "You added an intake and exhaust so we won't cover it." IF it turns out to be the added parts that caused the problem, then you will have trouble. If your intake sucks water and toasts your motor, they aren't paying... If it was unrelated, they still pay.
But the odds of those types of products doing something to harm the engine is minimal. Just remember on the TRD exhaust, don't plug the holes at each end... What else could go wrong??? If it falls off and tears your bumper wrap loose, bumper ttto bumper won't cover it.
Just keep the parts you replace and you can always swap back to the stock airbox in no time...
Hope this helps, from an avid do-it-yourselfer...

As said above - voids warranty only if the mod can be blamed for the prob. if the dealer didn't install.
YES - they keep track of what has been done to your car with a service computer (this allows for maintanence history). ANY dealer will know what services have been performed by other dealers.
I went with AEM intake cuz I got a Screamin deal ($160 no tax) and installed it myself. My dealer still took a look at it when I complained about a rattle (caused by filter element against back of fog light).
As said before - if something DOES go wrong with your engine that you think may be directly attributed to your modification, put the stock parts on before you take it in. Shhhhh, they'll never know. :)

I was on the TRD site the other day, and as i recall, the trd parts, in order to be warranted, MUST be installed by a dealer. all trd stuff, but the shock, are warranted only for a year. The shocks are limetime limited.

I called Scion and they said that if you install Scion authorized parts, the part is covered for 12 months. If they are installed by a Scion authorized dealer, they are covered by your car warranty (3 years/36,000) miles. If they are not authorized parts and not installed by the dealer, j00 r fux0r3d (only if it is the cause of a problem)...
