Install wasn't too hard. Having a mirror so you can see the header bolts helps, getting the two spring bolts back on and off is REALLY hard. Youll need lots of extensions, some WD40 is helpful.

car doesn't sound any different.

both headers weigh 6 lbs, but you don't put the heatshield back on so maybe you save like 1 pound with the DC header.

it doesn't sound any different? do you have a stock exhaust or aftermarket? I would think it would make a lil difference. Does it feel like it has more power?

BTW THIS IS MY 1000th post!!! WOOOOHOOO i made it to the BIG TIME!

stock exauhst otherwise.

the AEM intake made the car sound much different.
the header did not, sounds the same.

feel more power? maybe, maybe not.

I don't trust my butt to sense tiny horsepower differences.
mebe when I get back to TWS again I can see if I hit a higher top speed on the main straight =)

im getting a header before i get an intake. they cost about the same, but headers make more power. it just seems sensable to me to do it in this order. does that make sense?

thats what i thought. Wait till you get an exhaust on that bad boy, then you'll reall hear and feel the difference!

ive yet to see a dyno test of any header, so I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it will add more power than an intake.

as for changing the rest of my exauhst, I don't plan too. I take my muffler off entirely for racing, and I prefer to have it quiet stock.

Why do the exhaust and collector holes look so much smaller than the stock unit. Yet the pipes are bigger???

turn the brightness up and look closer.

the stock manifold is two parts, the flat metal part has huge holes, but the actual pipes are much smaller, you can make it out in the pictures just barely.

so did you need to buy a new gasket or did it come with one or did you just use your old one?

I just reused the old one, so far no problems.

Install took like 3 hours.

Its really pretty easy if you have the extensions youll need.

getting the spring bolts back in is super hard though.

i just ordered a gasket from toyota, better safe than sorry later on. besides, only 27 bucks and it'll probably save me from some headaches later on.

$27??? I paid $19 and change at my local dealer... and I thought that was too much for what it is. I guess some dealers gouge their customers!!! Damn poor way to do business....

yea sucks, but eh, at least it'll get done right... should've waited on installing that strut bar, lol... things in the way, think i'm go underneath so i don't gotta take the strut off. headers are so god damn tiny... my sink pipes are bigger than these.

nah, i meant pull the new headers up from underneath... i can still reach everything from up top, just don't think there'd be enough room to slide the headers down from the top cause of the strut bar...
my dads got an arsenal of tools in his garage, extensions, 5 of every wrench, socket, rachet of every size, every attachment, giant compressor, ect. ect. ect... i think i'd be able to get it from the bottom if i had to. got swivels for the rachets and with an extension i think it'd be pretty easy

Here is a tip from the muffler dude here. :D Call your local muffler shop and ask if they have the industrial stregnth WD40. Just ask if they can just give you a spray of it on the bolts. I use ZEP penitrating spray for exhaust bolts and it is like WD40 X100 I use it every day to get rusted bolts off, and will work wonders on our bolts.

Just have them spray it and drive it home to do it your self, saves time and by the time you get home the spray has done its job. The bolts should be loose by the time you get home or at least another half an hour after spraying :D Just a tip for you guys.

thanks stylis... yea, i sprayed some sort of stuff on it this morning, gonna do it again when i get off work then i'ma start on it. forgot the name, some penetrating lubricant stuff, its industrial style, my dad uses it on his bobcats and heavy machinery and what not... said "it'll take the bolt off itself its so god damn strong" lol

headers are anywhere from 200-250... depends on where you go... if you're close to new york use www.ultrarev.com it's 202 and some change... if you're in cali then use optauto.com it's 225 and some change

it had a piece of paper claiming it was carb exempt or whatever.
So I think you should be good to go

pretty easy to install... it's only got 5 bolts on the headers and they're not under any of the pipes. just need an offset 12mm wrench and it takes about 5 minutes to get the bolts off, don't need to spray those and just take an impact gun w/ a 14mm socket and a long ___ extension to the spring bolts and the bracket bolt (take off the passenger side front tire and its easy to get to) and you got it off.

do notice a sound difference (probably because i don't have an intake or exhaust and notice every little thing on my car) and a slight increase in power past 4k rpms, when you get past 5k it gives a little more of a boost to the car.

that little paper you're talking about said carb exempt on it, but on the install instructions paper it says CARB PENDING.

the proper step in any n/a engine mods should be intake, exhaust then header. you won't feel the header's gains until you free up the exhaust. the stock exhaust is restricting the header and when you do get an exhaust make sure its something close to a cat-back and not a muffler like trd's to get maximum gains.

just installed DC header:

i have TRD exhaust. yes it's more audible, but definately NOT LOUD - which is a PLUS! and MY butt-dyno tells me that I do feel more torque. and you can actually hear the "swish" of air flow which also works for me. :D

oh yeah, and no "rattle" on shifts as has been noted on some XBs.

Did you come from underneith to get the spring bolts? I've got everything but those off and getting ready to go to the store to get some jack stands and an impact gun

yea, you gotta lift the front and roll underneath... with an impact gun it goes really quick. lemme know if you need help. :D fun putting those on. haha.
