Default Remote Starter with factory alarm

Is it possible to have a Remote Starter with the Scion factory alarm, or would I have to remove the alarm to install a starter?

AHAHAHAHAHAH! sorry. Just thought it was silly for you to get a factory alarm installed or equiped in your vehicle if you were going to replace it with something aftermarket.

I don't know about the Scions, but most Aftermarket Alarms w/ auotstart won't werk w/ the factory security system.

I'm sorry for not being such a big car expert. I never knew remote starts had alarms with them, and if I knew I obviously wouldn't have gotten the factory alarm installed.

So the following is all personal theory:

If you have the factory alarm installed...ur probably gonna be unhappy money wise. Most (if not all) remote starters come with their own set of security features ( auto door locks, timer lock/alarm, toggle switch, motion trigger ). So installing the remote starter ontop of the factory alarm is gonna render half the features you paid for (w/ the remote starter) useless.

Possible solutions maybe:
1) Remove factory alarm and sell that thing on here or ebay for maddd cheap
2) Stick with the factory alarm
3) Find a system that is remote start only (come to think of it...i dont see why these wouldnt exist...its just most people dont buy it individually)
4) And this is the case if your dead set on having the remote start Package: rip the factory alarm out, install the remote start package, try to forget about the money lost, and realize...$hit happens...to all of us.

And btw, w/in a week ill have the Audiovox Pro 9800 Remote Start/Alarm installed...i'll let you know what I think about it just in case you go with option 4 above and are looking for rem. start reviews.

Hope this helped.

Default Not possible without bypass

You would need a bypass module. The question is where to get it...

The immobilizer system is bedded into the ECU instruction set. Remember, DIS Ignition is signalled directly by the ECU. ECU only activates ignition instructions when the Key code of the owner's Key is correctly matched with the ECU's code. I own a remote start module (Just a module not an alarm). But since immobilizer is in the way and I don't want to increase a chance of theft, I can't use the remote start nor want to bypass my engine lock. As for alarms that have features of the factory alarm, don't connect those features. Just install the alarm on top of the factory alarm and make sure the aftermarket alarm has a disarm output signal so that it can trigger the factory alarm/disarm trigger.

And thats that.

I have an Autostarter with alram, and factory alarm also. My aftermarket alarm works great no conflicts with factory alarm. The only problem i had was when i first got the alarm that my factory alarm would go off. But i got that fixed by programing my aftermarket alarm to unlock the doors then start the car then lock doors again.

Just a quick question... I didn't get the alarm option for my tC. But my key still has a panic button. Is a stock tC equipped with ANY alarm at all or just a engine immobilizer?

Hey you CAN get a remote start system that doesnt have an alarm in the system too... I went to go look for an alarm for my truck the other day and I want something that has remote start too and then I realized that they also have systems with remote start that are NOT alarm systems... I saw it at Ultimate Electronics (dont know if they have them where you are or not)

I have a remote start module from Alert Automotive. Nice litty $35 thing. Can't use it on tC because of immobilizer.

first off this is moved ti ICE.

second....
there are soo many different types of systems you can put in your car.
(check out this for information... http://www.directed.com/security/viper/default.asp )
you can get keyless entry, you can get a security system, remote start and any combination of them.

Yes, you can have the factory alarm or keyless entry system do remote starting.
there are a few members in team scionrg with them.

the tC does have an immobilizer and you will need a bypass module to get around this. (they will work with any remote starter)

if you are uncertain of what you can do, go to a private shop that has some experience and ask them if they can do it.

Factory Alarms are worthless when it comes to a car theif.

They KNOW how the factory wires the alarms, and can generally
disable them in about 30-60 seconds!!

A well installed aftermarket alarm will have many benefits over
a "factory alarm"
