I was thinking about the same thing. I've always wanted to chop the top, but I don't know if it would look good or not. I wonder if anyone already did it. If so, please post some pics...

For a nice weather car it would be interesting, but fabricating a convertible top would be a challenge. It would end up looking like a Model T top!

I did some photoshop work for a guy on here and chopped the top, there is a three inch and a BIG chop.....I think some cars shouldn't be chopped......xB is one of those cars. IMHO.

I don't want a convertible, just wanna bring the roof lower a couple of inches.

I think chopping anything is hot, but those pictures seem extreme, but who knows.

Does anyone know the cost of chopping the top?

Is there enough room in the body to channel it also because that would be sick.... I like the extreme chop looks like one of the cars from the twenties....

you and a couple of your boys could do it yourself in a weekend. probably cost couple grand if done by a shop.

Jester

I don't have the slightest idea on how to chop the top.

Well you would have to brace the interior so the body doesn't warp, then you remove all the glass.... mark your spots and cut you will have to fabricate new a pillars and get custom glass cut..... then line the other pillars back up and weld back together....it's pretty labor intensive..... not something I could do by myself....

thnx for ur guys thoughts, i knew i wasn't alone.

I always thought it looked a lil too tall and too high for a ride height.

Making it chopped a lil, with a nice drop would make it look prettly slick won't you think?

I did this "Photochop" a while ago to see what it would look like... not as extreme as the other, and I think it works. I doubt I'll actually do it, but Cashman keeps bringing it up...

I have chopped tops before on street rods. and luckily the xB is a lot of straight lines. That makes it a lot easier to do. Model As have vertical pillars so it is possable to do the metal work on a chop in one or two days. An xB would be about 3-4 days because the pillars are not exactly straight up. the roof will have to be split and widened.

Probably something like this:

Suzuki Lapin SS Works with a chopped top. It's another boxy car like the xB.

i think its going to look like ___. :? as for channeling the body over the frame. there is no frame, its unibody.

i don't know how really how chop tops are done since there seems to be lots of obstacles to pull it off.

I always thought you juss blow torch the roof off the pillars. Cut down the pillars a few inches then torch it back on. Plus recut the glass n stuff

i know the body kit is 5zigen but past that im not sure. i did not get a chance to talk to the bulder.

i know the builder and the kit is a one-off designed by 5 Axis - the company that built the car. the wheels are custom milled for the car by Budnick wheels

i think that xb proves that it too can look pretty.

its the WB, how it angles inward on the fenders, square out, i wouldve add sum slightly small vents not too extrem but sumtin noticible.

Wow, I never liked the stock xB much, but that is pretty sick...

Obviously to the extreme and not really suited unless you want teenie boppers to gawk at you all day :D

But that is a car you would want as a little kid in your hotwheel collection and just run into other cars with all day and kept in your pocket at school for show and tell :D

Everyone is entitiled to their own opinions which is the nice thing about this forums.
Majority of people that I talked to liked the 5Axis Scion.
Some don't really care much for it.

This was a project that involved a lot of things. The car still has it's functionality and they wanted something that stands out (which the orange xB did).

I heard it looks so much better in person. This xB is a project that Scion, 5Axis and sponsors like Pioneer, Sparco etc. put a lot of work into.

I know that I have been contacted by several publications asking how they can get a photoshoot of the orange wide body xB.

They seem to like it and are competing on who puts it on the cover of their magazine first.

Same thing is to be said about the Limetime Green xB on bags that made the cover of Mini Trucking. I think it looks awesome but it's not my style though. PTAP and FBI Minis had done an awesome job on that car and it made cover of a national magazine.

I like more of the JDM look myself, but although I would not do the same thing to my xB..I like and respect the work that was put forth on that xB.

As far as chopping an xB...I beleive 5Axis is the first one in the world to do it (according to my Japanese sources...it has never been done to a bB before....he could be wrong)

West Coast Choppers was supposed to do Jon's (SPFR) car before and chop it but it never materialized and fell through.

I am sure that there will be otjers that will follow. To each his own and the beauty about Scions in particular is that each individual can inject their own taste in each car. We are all so similar but still so different.

To those who are interested.... I just posted some jpegs on our site of the Chopped Widebody Xb. Included are finished picts along with some of the build process.

Feel free to post them anywhere you like but I would appreciate it if you could send me a link or post it on this site so that I can see them and post if necessary.

Thanks for all the compliments and for putting the FIVEaxis name out there!!! I appreciate the support!!!
