Default I get my trd quickshifter today......

does anyone know if the install is difficult? Me and my friend installed the TRD shocks/springs and I dont think it will be more technical than that. any thoughts?

I think if you did shocks/springs, you shouldn't have any problems with this.

There is a write up somewhere of removing the center console stuff that might help as well.

The shifter comes with instructions. It's all straight forward and super simple. Shouldn't take any more than a half an hour. Enjoy!!!

The TRD shifter is REALLY easy to install, the only difficult part is turning the two twisty things that hold in the shift cables... you need strong hands and it make take a few tries.

Other shifters are pretty easy as well and a MUCH cheaper generally. I got my B&M for less than $115. They reuse the stock shifter housing, which takes a lil more install time to get around, but if you have a dremel, that isn't too difficult.

Good luck on the install, if you have any questions, PM and I'll be glad to help to out!

The install is easy, and you'll definitely like the result :-)

Shocks and springs would have been pretty easy with a good spring compressor (I had a manual one and a socket wrench). the rear was a little tricky because you have to line up the shocks before you put the spring o...hard to explain, but it has to be like 23.7 degrees or some crap or it wont fit....that was a pian. and the rear shocks are a real pain to get to also.... If I had known what I was doing, it prob. would have been about 4-5 hours.... it took us about 7-8.

yikes. $250 for a shortshifter. i'll wait a year till they make one for cheaper. i know theres one for $130, but thats still a little high. look at honda civics short shifters on ebay, they go for like $12.

yeah....It was a little expensive, but it was not just the metal rod.... It came complete with the shift housing so that all you had to do was unbolt the old one, bolt on the new one and reconnect the shift cables... after the console was removed, it took me about 25 minutes. And it came with the TRD shiftknob, otherwise I could have gotten it for about 190. looks good. and I liked the stock hight of the shifter. I think it was worth it.

well.... the throws are only 20% shorter than stock, so the throws are not that much different, although definately noticable, but it goes into gear a lot nicer. The feel is very solid and the shifter does not wiggle as much as it used to. Plus the leather **** feels great too. It feels a little smaller than stock, but about the same weight....and it's smooth (stock had that sticky rubber feeling).

You definitely pay for what you get. the short shifter on my BMW is a UUC Motorwerks Evo3, and I bought it for $325 plus shipping. Definitely the best shifting I've ever felt.

Anyways, dachmo, does it feel notchier than before? What about shift effort? I'd like something a little higher effort than stock, but not too notchy or difficult to get into gear.
