dealer prep fees/shipping fees
did any of you guys pay them when you bought your scion? Im just wondering if they are going to try and screw me over on that kinda crap. I am hopefully picking mine up today after work. I handed over the keys to my integra at lunch time. I almost cried. so basically right now I am car-less. I still cant believe I sold my baby for something with half the amount of horse power. oh well, Im sure I will have fun with my box.
I didn't.. in fact not too many scion dealerships do. If they try that find another dealer and tell them you want your trade in back. Dealer fees are bs and a horrible attempt at making extra money.
Tru, that is what I figured. I mean, when I was there the other day I signed a piece of paper that stated the price of the car will cost $14,395 +/- $150 or so depending on what options might come on the one I will be purchasing. If they try to stick it to me I will just be like "look you said it wouldnt be more than $150 more than the price I agreed on the other day.
yeah screw that. the only reason I am car-less right now is because the dealership told me that my scion would be here today so I went ahead and sold my old car to the guy today before he backed out or something. didnt wanna get stuck with 2 loans. lol.
The dealer service fee or doc fee is one thing, but as far as shipping goes there is no way out of that one. It is already included in the MSRP though so if they try to add that to the price that would be wrong. The dealership does not make one cent on the delivery fee and if they can't get out of paying it neither can you. Just look at their website though, they HAVE to list all fees on there and if they don't they are out of compliance.
actually, what i meant is like a transfer fee to get one from another dealership. They said that it was coming in from NY. are any scions imported to the east coast at all? Im just curious, I hope they arent transfering the scion from another dealership that has some mileage on it. I want mine fresh off the boat.
The only fees you should be paying are:
1. Manufacture's suggested sticker price
2. Delivery, processing, handling fee (it's on the sticker, mine was $515)
3. Options
4. Doc prep fee
5. Sales tax
6. License fees
7. Registration fees
Those are for California. Some states may differ on #'s 6 & 7. #2 is part of Scion's "Pure Pricing" and is non-negotiable.

That happned to me - I walked - it took me all of 15 minutes to find another Scion dealer that didn't try to stick it to me... Read my post here -> https://www.scionlife.com/dealers/?dealer=185
It amazes me that some people will just eat the extra expense just because they're too lazy or don't care...

damn i hope that doesnt happen to me. I already sold my old car and this dealership is giving me a free loaner until my scion comes in (Hopefully tomorrow!) I went back to the same guy that helped me out when i was starting to look at the scions so he was very greatful that I came back to him. he seems to be helping me out a lot. and I signed some paper stating that i wouldnt be paying more than like 14,500 for it so I hope he doesnt try to screw me over. plus I am driving to canada this weekend so I definitely need my new ride this week. cant wait another week or so for another dealer to help me out.....
If your deal is verbal, you don't have sh*t ; well, you have a promise from a car salesman, what you think that is worth? Get a signed sales order! Ps. I'm pretty sure in the manual it has a 1k break-in period where constant same speed driving isn't recommended.

Your sales order should specify exactly what optional equipment, if any, is on the car. If the car has been identified (there's a VIN on the sales order) there should be no ambiguity about this.
