Default carbon fiber roof

do they make carbon fiber roofs
serriously
this my sound stupid but it would lower the weight
and increase handling because of the lower center of gravity

....I dont think that the roof is ALOT of weight than your thinking and personally i think a CF roof would be difficult to make, be too expensive, have too many problems and flat out look stupid. my .02

well depends on wat you consider a lot of weight.

the rear sunroof probly weights about nearly 20lbs and i think tats heavy. 20 lbs because of the glass and all the metal brackets tat come with it.

the front one with the motor... probly around 50-60 lbs?

im jus throwing #'s out there since i've seen the blueprint or break-down for the roof assembly.

i really want to get the sunroof's replaced with CF for purposes of lighter weight, lowers my center of gravity (less head weight), and keeps the sun out a little better than glass.

that would be nice if you can replace the whole brackets with some lightweight aluminum... then put a big cover on top of it thats detachable like a t-top but just the whole roof.

that would be cool driving w/o a roof , of course it only happens in my imagination

The stock roof comes off all in one piece and weighs around 62 lbs, my scale only reads in 1/2 lb increments but is quite accurate.

Our roof will be stated any day now and here in around two weeks.

We are not manf it but will announce who is when they want us to, maybe they do now, I will try to remember to ask when I call tomorrow.

The roof will not open and will maitain some of the stock supports, etc, not a bad idea, not sure the weight yet but it will be quite lower than stock!!!

What does removing a bunch of weight do up top? Huge handling benifits!!!!!!

would this be a simple thing to do, removing the top that is?

could it be done for just race days, then put back on with no problems (aside from maybe being clumbsy and dropping the 62lbs glass roof... which would cost big bucks to replace im sure.)???

No, not something you would want to do unless you wanted to leave your headliner out all the time. It is a pain to remove and very easy to damage while doing so, just not a viable alternative

The roof may seem only 62 lbs but when reaching over the top of a car it is very uncomfortable to work with and could easily lead to a scratched, even dented car, broken roof, etc, it is a bit of a hassle to remove the top with two people, three is better, four even more so
