Default how's the xB in snow/ ice?

hey all-

getting my xB in November, when i get back from Iraq. I live in Connecticut, and the thing I'm really worried about is how the xB controls in snow and ice. I've had a '93 chevy z34 (which I loved) and a '93 ford taurus gl (which i hate). Both of them were ok in the snow, but it'll be my first time in these conditions in such a light car. Any better? any worse? thanks in advance.

I'm right across the Long Island Sound from Conn. We have 2 2005 xBs. Got the first in February 2005 and drove it in a pretty bad ice/snow storm when it was a few weeks old. I thought that because of its light weight and windsail type of body that we would be all over the road. I did drive from Queens to our LI home using secondary roads but the handling and braking was surprisingly good. I don't think that I would drive it at highway speed in heavy snow and ice unless the roads were clear but with rasonable caution, it seemed to handle as well as my Mazda Protege that I traded in for our second xB.

Stay safe and get home soon and enjoy your eB.

Great in SNOW.... unless you like to skid, patch out or do doughnuts, then it may be difficult.

It's ok in snow. I have the stock tires and getting up large hills can be difficult.

Mid-Atlanticaian here. Not as much snow as up north but it handles well. I'm switching away from the stock Goodyear Eagle LS tires to Michelin Harmony before winter or mid-fall. The Goodyears I have are from the factory but the tires are not as good especially with 32K+ on them. The goodyears suck in the the rain. Use the stock tire width (185) during the winter. Wider tires are not good in the snow. Narrow tires like 185mm is best.

got mine in march, but it still snowed a few times during march, but it handled pretty good, and the tires didnt spin, just depends on how you drive. I had a 95 z28 before this and i had no problems in the snow with that for 3yrs, and lots of people say they arent good in the snow!!

This has been covered lots and lots of times. Try searching for "snow handling"

If you use the red button, make sure to click the "search for all terms" button

The concensus is that it's great!
