Default Most overpriced xA option?

I love my xA, but I think the dealer options are a bit overpriced. I haven't compared scions to other cars, but I've had two things that I wanted and thought were just ridiculously priced. The satellite tuner which I wanted ($450) and the carpetted floormats ($120) are just crazy prices to me. I've found them both online cheaper from other scion dealers. Factory parts are generally more expensive, but usually there's good justification. The satellite tuner I think is the biggest price gouge out of them. Still, I love my car and understand that this is probably part of the business strategy to make the standard car a great value and then offer "luxuries" at overly inflated prices. Not to be negative about the car in general, its awesome otherwise.

well, Scion charges some with labor fee and profit in the goods so you'll be able to find it cheaper online. if people are not up to installing it themselves, just go to the dealership, make one payment & done with it... at least you'll never run into a service dept that'll charge you arm & a leg w/ hidden charges with Scion ;)

Right now the most over priced xA accessory is the GAS! Freakin' $25 to fill up that little car. Give me a break. If gas prices where normal, it would only cost about $12. Sorry....rant over.

Yeah...the dealer is WAAYYYY too proud of the Scion accesories.

You want to know what makes it 10x worse?

When you pay wayyyyy too much for your 6-disc changer, or your TRD rims, or your springs/shocks/struts, not only are you overpaying, but THEY KEEP THE ONES THEY TAKE OUT.

At least if you wait & buy your accesories AFTER, and SAVE TONS, you also get to keep what your car came with...in the case of rims, you can swap them back for the winter (if you live in such an area as we do)...stereo - you can sell the stock joint...suspension - again, sell it.

By far the MOST outrageous accessory is the LED cupholder lights for $280!

I got a set of good LEDs from Autozone for $6 and installed them in the cup holder in about 30 minutes. The good thing about Scion offering this accessory is that the wiring is already there for us to tap into!

Here's the link to do the install...

I'm with Epitrochoid $280, come on! Hooking up your car used to be about saving money and learning at the same time. You can have more bling for less ChaChing if you just want to do a little work yourself.

Most overpriced? Hmm...I think it's the Pioneer DVD Nav system I got. It's not a factory option though, it was a dealer option. $2800 for it and if I had gotten it elsewhere I think I could have gotten it for $1500.

Why did I agree to it? I wanted it financed with the car, pretty simple and I use it all the time for work. I'm a on-site software technician so it comes in pretty handy.

On the plus side, b/c I spent so much with the dealer they threw in some nice stuff too. Nicest freebies are the 7/100k warranty, lo-jack and car alarm. I priced lo-jack for my Corolla recently and prices were around $1200. So it came out ok.

Well, if you want to get technical... The DVD Nav you got was about 90% overpriced were the LEDs are about 4500% overpriced.

I got all my stock parts back...Springs, shocks, struts, airbox, filter...all of it. If I were you, I'd be going back and getting all the stuff they took ....You did pay for that stuff, you know.

Keep in mind that one Scion article posted here or was it somewhere else? that said that the Scion dealers were happy not because they sold a $13k car with little profit, but instead, happy because they've got a lot of upgraders coming in to buy the over-priced accessories from them.
