Default Springs, Camber Links, Spacers and the Wife

OK, had big plans to drop my TC using some Tein S's and then picked up the Hotchkis Camber Links from BreakAway on here (should be here today) and I'm just firming up this Sunday with Jeff in Brick for this Sunday and I figure I should run it by the wife and make sure she doesn't need me to watch the nipper... and she freaks out. Probbaly something to do with me wanting to do 'complex mechanical work' to a 6 week old car.

So long story short, the springs will be going up for sale here shortly (and if no ones' interested I'll dump them on ebay).

So I'm left with a desire to still do something.

My new plan - and she has said this is OK (note to self get prior authorization before buying things).

Plain and simple is SPACERS and maybe sway bars.

Couple of questions.

A: Are the camber links of no use to me? Should these also be dumped onto ebay, or would they be invaluable with a stock suspension with wheel spacers?

B: How wide can I go on the spacers (I've PM'd Nismo) stock suspension and shocks, can I do 15mm front and 20mm back or will I rub? Anyone done this with a stock setup?

C: Are sway bars really that great?

D: Is there anything in here that looks like it might lead to more marital disputes, will my wife still call me a Guido Ricer Mid-Life Crisis Loser?

E: Do I need to budget for an alignment if I add spacers?

All input greatly appreciated.

(edit: added E)

OK, so rereading some earlier threads 20mm spacers but with tein-s's, would the stock suspension be more likely to rub or less. I could have sworn I saw a picture of someone who had 5mm and the wheels looked almost flush.

Hmmmm.

A. Camber Links are to reduce the negative camber of your rear tires after you lower your car. So yes they are pretty much useless on a stock suspension
B. ?
C. Sway bars are definately worth the money if you plan on doing it. It greatly reduces body roll.
D. is it your car or not? i dont see why modding your car would be any cause for her to call you that. after all it is a hobby.
E. not entirely sure, but i don't think so.

"is it your car or not?"

It is my car, but she is my wife, and she has the ultimate power to control all things.

I agree, I tried to explain it was a hobby, but she doesn't understand, in her words "why would you do this? It's not essential and it might cause (even remotely) problems, I don't see the point"... you just can't argue with that.

Marriage = pick your battles with care, if it's not worth it, move on.

UPS tracking says they are due today. They came from breakaway As I haven't touched them, and won't (unless I'm told they're worth me putting on, I'll be happy to sell them (paypal and UPS shipped) for the same price I paid (which I think was a bargain).

It's easier to get forgiveness than to get permission. Loose lips... How long have you been married??

*Note to my wife...(Just kidding, Honey. Don't make me sleep on the couch again)

LOL, 5years, I used to work that way, but then I build up a reputation for doing dumb things that needed to be forgiven, these days I'm a senseless zombie - I only do my masters binding.

Spacers, someone must have some input, how about I flip[ the question round.

If 15mm and 20mm work with TRD springs, will they work for stock ones. Is the stock vertical travel more, less or the same as the for example the TRD springs.

atleast its only suspension. try explaining to your wife that you are painting your car in the garage, and her new car has to park outside.

OK, damned it I went and picked up a set of 15mm and 20mm just now, when I get home I'll take some pix of the springs and the camber links (if the UPS man leaves it in the front porch that is), and I'll stick them in the classifieds (DTRUONG_112 gets first refusal on the cambers at the price I paid). I'll probably sell the springs for $120 shipped lower 48.

You should be fine with this set-up. That's what I have on my S-Techs.

HAHAHA
That's WHY I got two...
She doesn't want hers modded at all.
I get to do what I want. Hell, half the time, SHE'S the one making suggestions as to what I should do next...to MY car!

15F/20R should be good. That's what I'm planning. I also plan on some Tanabe NF210. You might try talking her into these springs...small drop (1-1.25"), same stock feel.
