Default Intro and tire pressure? on 19's - Houston

Hi Everyone,

Just got my NB tC on 8/22/05. Traded in my Xb after 17 months, had 7800 miles on it and they paid it off. Had a list of cars I wanted to test drive, ended up driving this while I was getting an oil change at the dealership and decided to buy it. It was the last one left, looked really sporty with the 19 inch wheels and spoiler. I totally love it so far except for the gas mileage which brought me here. Found out that bigger tires will effect the mileage, and tire pressure.

So my question: After reading a bunch of post about tire pressure I checked mine and all the tires were around 32 psi. I read on the actual tire the pressure should be Max 50psi. I put some air in and now they are 40psi...is this ok or should I have them up to 50 psi or is this just personal prefrence, please help. I don't wanna mess up my tires.

Thanks,
Dawn
