Hey everyone.

Just wanted to inform you that Scikotics has formed a new chapter here in Washington. I'm joining Shon as the second to be named HMFIC for Scikotics.

My region, "Seattle" runs from approximately:

*I-5/HWY 2 interchange to the north (Near Everett)
*Roughly Highway 9 to the east (To include Snohomish, Monroe, North Bend and the eastern edge of the eastside)
*I-90 to the south (Roughly Factoria)
*Puget Sound on the West (Where the water is :P )

THESE BORDERS ARE NOT SET IN STONE.

If you're a few miles out that's fine, but one of the main things Jon (FrankenScion) and I are trying to accomplish is that no one has to drive through a ton of hellish traffic or for hours to get to a car club meet.

My goals as HMFIC/Seattle: (My favorite part is that this is what I hope to accomplish, not some script I've been told to post...)

* I volunteer my spare time to help organize a car club where everyone shares a passion for Scions and the furthering of the Scion brand.

* I will do my best to make sure all in this club feel welcome and included. I will do this by varying the meet locations so that all can benefit from convenient locations and less miles at kleast some of the time.

* I will put the PEOPLE and the GROUP awards before the cars. (Yes, Scions are great cars and very versatile aftermarket, but the PEOPLE are what make the club.)

* I will make myself available and approachable to any questions, comments (good or bad) or opinions and will take it to heart.

* I will do my best to make sure meets are varied and enjoyable by all in the club, regardless of gender, age, etc.

* I will add to this list as I go along and evolve with the club, in turn making this a fun experience for all.

To quote a prior post from Jon (FrankenScion, HMFIC for all of Scikotics) here is what makes Scikotics different:

We are more casual than most.
We don't charge dues.
Input from all members is not just welcome but encouraged.
We try to get together at least every couple of weeks but it is not required.
Club participation awards at shows are more important than individual awards.
We have 2 club sponsors, www.strup.us and www.perfectlyround.com and we are working on more.
And we call the people in charge of each chapter HMFIC instead of President.....lol.

And a big thanks to our Club Sponsors:
www.jimnortonscion.com (sponsor of www.scikotics.com ) * www.strup.us * www.perfectlyround.com

My primary (initial) goal is two-fold.

1) Build membership

and

2) Try to acquire a dealership as a sponsor. (This will obviously come as the membership increases.)

Right now I'm thinking that any combination of the following would best serve our future members:
Scion of Lake City (A great central resource, just outside of downtown Seattle)

If you have any questions I can be reached on here or Yahoo as "InTheWASide" If you would prefer to contact me by phone, please use one of these methods and I will provide you with my number, or leave yours and I will contact you.

Thank you.

Brad

Would North Bend (around exits 27? and 31? on I-90) be considered too far out of the way? I've been looking to join a group, but I haven't found any in the area.

Hey Steve.

Thanks for the interest. CHeck my reply to you in the Sign-In thread also, I think I saw your car yesterday.

Anyway, about ScikoticS...

Like I said in the main post, nothing is set in stone. I kinda lined out the areas that seem to be the most populated but that also if you went from extreme north to extreme south it won't be totally hellish to drive it for every meet.

Right now there are Scikotics chapters forming in both "Seattle" (mine) and in Wenatchee (North Central Washington) and you are definitely closer to my area... :)

Both groups are just starting up. I took this on just a couple days ago but you always gotta start somewhere, right?

I'm looking into some dealer sponsorship, thinking right now the best route to go is maybe business cards and they can have their logo completely takeover one side. (Getting some ideas better situated before I present.)

Wow I'm a rambler... back to your Q...

This region and the "lines" I made are of course flexible for members, although most MEETS and get togethers will probably occur inside those lines. (That of course can vary also)

Let me know if you'd like to meet and we can discuss more. Since we're just starting up, I'll just find a central point for all members which with the two of us would probably be Kirkland/Bellevue-ish (I'm in Everett...more specifically Lake Stevens side of Hwy 2) and I work in Redmond Fridays and Saturdays (sometimes more)

You can reach me at:
425-268-4342

Again, my name's Brad.

Welcome bcharley3!

We're going to try and set up a get together before too long, would love to have some prospective Scikotics come out and we could hang somewhere and grab coffee (or beer) and talk about our rides.

Who's interested?

Hmmmm just might have to show up at the meet when and where?

InTheWASide

You tell me... I'm just the leader :)

I mean that in a cute way but also somewhat serious. I'm in Everett, Bruce (bcharley3) is in Bothell... you're in Seattle... We have most of the extremes so I would say somewhere above 520 would be a good start...

Alderwood?
Downtown Kirkland?

Restaurant?
Sports bar?

My goal, as it's part of what Scikotics does, is to make this a democracy of sorts...

"A Scion club, by the members, for the members..."

Remember that there's also no dues. I'm working on a few contacts I have for decals, but it's seriously a matter of "Own a Scion, have a Scion on order or LOVE Scions" and come to me and let me know all this, and once I get at least one contact method and know if you got a ride yet or not... You're in!"

Decals would not be free, but at the same time, they're gonna be cheaper than a $30-50 registration fee where you then "get a decal for free"
I'm also trying to get a few ideas together for different decals. I've been given artistic license to change the decal design any way I want, so long as I keep the font for the part that actually SAYS "ScikoticS"

I partially want to get half a dozen or more members and come up with a "Design the Scikotics/PSN decal" and whoever wins, I'll personally buy yours, but at the same time I'd like them available to everyone immediately upon joining (already conceptualized)

Back to the idea of the meet though, spout some ideas off... I don't see a REAL need to start a new thread yet, so let's just keep it going in here for now...

Thanks for the interest!

I sure hope it isn't somewhere 21 and older. Don't wanna be left out of the crowd. :( But any of those areas sound just fine to me. I'm always looking for a good drive, and those two are only, like, 35-50 minutes away, really.

So, anything new with a meet coming up soon? I really want to do this. :P

let's bump this thread back up...

Less than a week now, 4 members already and nearly daily meets for the majority of the group, got back in touch with bcharley/Draco/Bruce (fell off the radar for a bit) so now we'll have to get another get together going although we've had a LOT of em so far so shouldn't be a problem...

At least from my vantage point (High atop "HMFIC Mountain" I might add :P ) this is an amazing group that is going to build some excellent friendships.

I'm proud off all you guys so far!

And on a seperate note, it IS just all guys right now... first girl to join I think Shon (otsego_undead) and I agreed in a previous thread that we'd buy an "I (heart) Scikotics" baby doll tee for the first girl that joins.

Any takers?

We've had a whole bunch of mini ones... almost daily actually lol...

There's the meet the 3rd friday of October at Alderwood Mall... if you'd like to meet before that, either post or PM me with a typical (if such exists) weekly schedule for you and we can work something out. Like I said, us getting together is an everyday thing pretty much, and we'd love to have new people "folded into the pack"

Hope to hear back from you soon.

"Mini-meets" dont exist so much as "Hey, wanna hang for a while"s which happen all the time... I'd say at least 2-3 times a week.

Right now our members are in NE Everett, North Bend, Bothell, U-District (Seattle Yacht Club... close enough)... We can meet anywhere in that bubble essentially...

My phone is:
425-268-4342

Contact me anytime and find out what we have going on... Worst case scenario, I'll set something up spur of the moment (it's how it usually happens anyway)

Jake

As the Founder and CoHMFIC of Scikotics/Seattle I'd like to clarify this since there's been some confusion...

This is by NO MEANS a "If you don't show up, you're out" type of deal, but rather a "Do everything you can short of moving heaven and earth to make it to this one. It's gonna be SWEET!

Also, while Jake's showing off his new mods (and there's a LOT of em) I'll be handing out welcome packets to all the new members with some information regarding charity events for the holidays, mine and Jake's private business cards (non-Scikotics related), discussing some of the plans that are close ahead for Scikotics/Seattle as well as answering your questions about t-shirts, decals and business cards to hand out and leave on windshields etc.

It's gonna be a great night. The goal is to meet at 7 at Alderwood. The main meet that is in conjunction with SE is at 8, but we have a lot to go over and it's hard to get it mentioned when there's 15-20 cars to look at... :)

So think about all those Q's you haven't had a chance to ask yet, and we'll get em all covered. If you have to bring the spouse, the kids, the dog, the family ferrett... go for it... We want to see you all there...

Special appearance to be made by the Scikottie Hottie herself, Jessi! This alone should require an admission price! :P And she'll for sure be there... I'm picking her up at work on the way there.

Please note...
As we will be working with several charities this holiday season, please do your best to be able to donate AT LEAST $1.00. Whether this is spare change in your cupholder, under your mats, in your pocket along with some lint, etc... I'll go into more detail about the charities at the pre-meet but would love to see a MINIMUM of $1.00 from everyone that's able!

Thanks!

And we'll see you there!

MussBus
10-26-2005, 02:09 AM
Because of their importance or due to their popularity

Tomas
10-26-2005, 02:42 AM
Why do post become stickies?Basically it is to keep topics that might not get enough posts to stay at the top of the list AT the top of the list. But it's only effective if there are very few stickies.

The other reason is for topics that are time-critical (a 'meet' or 'event' or whatever coming up in the near future) that need to get attention so the critical date is not missed.

Making things 'sticky' in a club forum is a lot more relaxed than the same thing in a regional or model forum. In a club forum things are important if the club thinks they are. In the wider based forums, it is a balancing act.

(And this is the Mod who 'stuck' this topic - it is an overall informational topic and COULD be the main focus for n00bs to Scion, ScionLife, or the region who are looking clubs over. It met my understanding of the objective criteria.)

Hope that helps in some way to answer some questions.

Good luck, kids!

Vinyls available now. Most colors available.

$7 for under 12" and $15 for anything OVER 12" (13" or huge full size for the back xB hatch. Custom orders may cost more, but seem to usually be possible!)

I'm looking into tshirt costs and all that now in the Scikotics thread.

If anyone needs collection info for Great Strides, CONTACT ME I have just about everything now.

I have a PDF file I can email if you want to print flyers out! I recommend a heavier cardstock. The PDF file is set to make the majority of the flyer RED so you may want to go to Kinos or something with the file so as to spare your color ink cartridge! IM me on yahoo (inthewaside@yahoo.com) if you want that file!!

Oh, and last minute meet on March 3rd to get together with Shon, the Scikotics Godfather of WA state. (the first WA HMFIC, but for a different region and now part of our ranks)

:P Seattle Scikotics,
Please join all of us on the new website. With this being a national club -- we need something to keep us all in contact.

The SoCal chapter is beginning to use it -- the East coast chapters are using it .

It's a good set up -- easy to use. Before long you don't even notice who's regional page you are posting on -- it's all just family.

 We really want this to bring the club together... whether we are able to meet in person or not.

Please try to get your members involved. In the few weeks the site has been up it has been quite entertaining and I have become even closer with Scikotic members. I think it's going to be the way to keep Scikotics connected.

I apologize for being _____y. :P

Sorry I been M.I.A., just haven't had much time to do other things lately. I'll be at one of the upcoming meetings soon hopefully. I haven't forgotten about the club.

:tap: Seattle Scikotics have not signed on the rollcall on the website, except one of your newest members. There will be profile changes coming to the site soon. We need to have each member assigned to a rollcall on their chapter's page.
It is very frustrating to try to organize a website for our club from hundreds of miles away and getting no support from your members.

I know, I've seen you there... and all over here... lol. I understand everyone is busy.
We're just trying to get complete roll counts and many people are not responding.

I don't understand why you don't post this on the Scikotics website -- this is how you, as the HMFIC, can help to support the club.

That is true, it would have been good to post on the Scikotics board but I think he was assuming it would stay as a local thing and most would not send money........

Brad, I forgot to give you money the other night but whatever,......you can count on me for atleast the $150 you asked us each for if I have to come put of pocket for it all.

But the thing is, you have new members on scikotics.com that don't come here. And there is a local Seattle forum.

And they are asking when the next meets are and such.
