Default Scikotics/Seattle Club Info Page -**UPDATED 4/16/06**

Hey everyone.

Just wanted to inform you that Scikotics has formed a new chapter here in Washington. I'm joining Shon as the second to be named HMFIC for Scikotics.

My region, "Seattle" runs from approximately:

*I-5/HWY 2 interchange to the north (Near Everett)
*Roughly Highway 9 to the east (To include Snohomish, Monroe, North Bend and the eastern edge of the eastside)
*I-90 to the south (Roughly Factoria)
*Puget Sound on the West (Where the water is )

THESE BORDERS ARE NOT SET IN STONE.

If you're a few miles out that's fine, but one of the main things Jon (FrankenScion) and I are trying to accomplish is that no one has to drive through a ton of hellish traffic or for hours to get to a car club meet.

My goals as HMFIC/Seattle: (My favorite part is that this is what I hope to accomplish, not some script I've been told to post...)

* I volunteer my spare time to help organize a car club where everyone shares a passion for Scions and the furthering of the Scion brand.

* I will do my best to make sure all in this club feel welcome and included. I will do this by varying the meet locations so that all can benefit from convenient locations and less miles at kleast some of the time.

* I will put the PEOPLE and the GROUP awards before the cars. (Yes, Scions are great cars and very versatile aftermarket, but the PEOPLE are what make the club.)

* I will make myself available and approachable to any questions, comments (good or bad) or opinions and will take it to heart.

* I will do my best to make sure meets are varied and enjoyable by all in the club, regardless of gender, age, etc.

* I will add to this list as I go along and evolve with the club, in turn making this a fun experience for all.

To quote a prior post from Jon (FrankenScion, HMFIC for all of Scikotics) here is what makes Scikotics different:

We are more casual than most.
We don't charge dues.
Input from all members is not just welcome but encouraged.
We try to get together at least every couple of weeks but it is not required.
Club participation awards at shows are more important than individual awards.
We have 2 club sponsors, www.strup.us and www.perfectlyround.com and we are working on more.
And we call the people in charge of each chapter HMFIC instead of President.....lol.

And a big thanks to our Club Sponsors:
www.jimnortonscion.com (sponsor of www.scikotics.com ) * www.strup.us * www.perfectlyround.com

My primary (initial) goal is two-fold.

1) Build membership

and

2) Try to acquire a dealership as a sponsor. (This will obviously come as the membership increases.)

Right now I'm thinking that any combination of the following would best serve our future members:
Scion of Lake City (A great central resource, just outside of downtown Seattle)

If you have any questions I can be reached on here or Yahoo as "InTheWASide" If you would prefer to contact me by phone, please use one of these methods and I will provide you with my number, or leave yours and I will contact you.

Thank you.

Would North Bend (around exits 27? and 31? on I-90) be considered too far out of the way? I've been looking to join a group, but I haven't found any in the area.

Hey Steve.

Thanks for the interest. CHeck my reply to you in the Sign-In thread also, I think I saw your car yesterday.

Anyway, about ScikoticS...

Like I said in the main post, nothing is set in stone. I kinda lined out the areas that seem to be the most populated but that also if you went from extreme north to extreme south it won't be totally hellish to drive it for every meet.

Right now there are Scikotics chapters forming in both "Seattle" (mine) and in Wenatchee (North Central Washington) and you are definitely closer to my area...

Both groups are just starting up. I took this on just a couple days ago but you always gotta start somewhere, right?

I'm looking into some dealer sponsorship, thinking right now the best route to go is maybe business cards and they can have their logo completely takeover one side. (Getting some ideas better situated before I present.)

Wow I'm a rambler... back to your Q...

This region and the "lines" I made are of course flexible for members, although most MEETS and get togethers will probably occur inside those lines. (That of course can vary also)

Let me know if you'd like to meet and we can discuss more. Since we're just starting up, I'll just find a central point for all members which with the two of us would probably be Kirkland/Bellevue-ish (I'm in Everett...more specifically Lake Stevens side of Hwy 2) and I work in Redmond Fridays and Saturdays (sometimes more)

You can reach me at:
425-268-4342

Again, my name's Brad.

Welcome bcharley3!

We're going to try and set up a get together before too long, would love to have some prospective Scikotics come out and we could hang somewhere and grab coffee (or beer) and talk about our rides.

Who's interested?

You tell me... I'm just the leader

I mean that in a cute way but also somewhat serious. I'm in Everett, Bruce (bcharley3) is in Bothell... you're in Seattle... We have most of the extremes so I would say somewhere above 520 would be a good start...

Alderwood?
Downtown Kirkland?

Restaurant?
Sports bar?

My goal, as it's part of what Scikotics does, is to make this a democracy of sorts...

"A Scion club, by the members, for the members..."

Remember that there's also no dues. I'm working on a few contacts I have for decals, but it's seriously a matter of "Own a Scion, have a Scion on order or LOVE Scions" and come to me and let me know all this, and once I get at least one contact method and know if you got a ride yet or not... You're in!"

Decals would not be free, but at the same time, they're gonna be cheaper than a $30-50 registration fee where you then "get a decal for free"
I'm also trying to get a few ideas together for different decals. I've been given artistic license to change the decal design any way I want, so long as I keep the font for the part that actually SAYS "ScikoticS"

I partially want to get half a dozen or more members and come up with a "Design the Scikotics/PSN decal" and whoever wins, I'll personally buy yours, but at the same time I'd like them available to everyone immediately upon joining (already conceptualized)

Back to the idea of the meet though, spout some ideas off... I don't see a REAL need to start a new thread yet, so let's just keep it going in here for now...

Thanks for the interest!

I sure hope it isn't somewhere 21 and older. Don't wanna be left out of the crowd. But any of those areas sound just fine to me. I'm always looking for a good drive, and those two are only, like, 35-50 minutes away, really.

So, anything new with a meet coming up soon? I really want to do this.

Was only planning on somewhere 21+ if seriously EVERYONE was over 21 that was interested. Absolutely no worries there... Glad to hear you're interested. Go ahead and send your feedback for hat/where works for you in the "Scikotics/Wanna plan a meet and greet" thread.

Thanks for the response!

let's bump this thread back up...

Less than a week now, 4 members already and nearly daily meets for the majority of the group, got back in touch with bcharley/Draco/Bruce (fell off the radar for a bit) so now we'll have to get another get together going although we've had a LOT of em so far so shouldn't be a problem...

At least from my vantage point (High atop "HMFIC Mountain" I might add ) this is an amazing group that is going to build some excellent friendships.

I'm proud off all you guys so far!

And on a seperate note, it IS just all guys right now... first girl to join I think Shon (otsego_undead) and I agreed in a previous thread that we'd buy an "I (heart) Scikotics" baby doll tee for the first girl that joins.

Any takers?
