View Full Version : Opinions on Sirius
Longoscion 09-20-2005, 11:43 PM Guys,
Just wanted to find out what your opinions are on Sirius (either if you recieved free from our event or you purchased yourself). Would you consider keeping Sirius in your car after your free 9 months? If so, what rates would you feel would be appealing to you?
sciondrgn 09-20-2005, 11:48 PM I have Siruis Now and I love it I just pay the 12.95 a month that way If something comes up I dont have service paid through a certain time ..
GREENMONSTER 09-21-2005, 01:09 AM IT IS A COOL SERVICE. I GOT SO USE TO IT. I DONT REALLY LISTEN REGULAR RADIO. CHEAP(THATS MY PRICE). ALSO CANT WAIT FOR HOWARD STERN!!!!!
Longoscion 09-21-2005, 01:30 AM good to hear

GREENMONSTER 09-21-2005, 01:45 AM HEY VERONE, I HEARD THAT THERE IS A WAY TO GET MORE CHANNELS.
mattssi 09-21-2005, 01:48 AM yeah... Theres some secret magical hobbit style code
I pay monthly, although that 1 time payment is friggin sweet
LVScionGal 09-21-2005, 04:08 AM We received Sirius from the Longo event and we do plan on keeping it after the nine months. :)
I dont know about the extra channels unless you're referring to the Rap stations like Shad3 45.
All you do is call them and have them upgrade you from the family package. Its still free!
:D
Tifchik12 09-21-2005, 04:17 AM I love Maxim 145, best station ever.
The thing that is making me reconsider keeping sirius, is the sketchiness of service i sometimes recieve. I have began to loathe freeway overpasses.
but, I'll probably pick up with $12.95 a month.
LVScionGal 09-21-2005, 04:25 AM LOL I agree!! We live in an apt and we dont even get reception under the car port!
Im gonna have to check out 145 what kinda music is that??
mattssi 09-21-2005, 04:39 AM "Extra" channels aren't really extra, they are the normal channels. I guess they give you some family plan from the dealer?? Thats no fun
es65notch 09-21-2005, 05:23 AM love it thanks to you guys
scion4us 09-21-2005, 05:32 AM We had it installed at the Longo Event. This is all we have to say. WE LOVE IT! More than enough stations to keep us happy and you can listen to the same station for 1000 miles as we did this weekend going to Scion Night II and then to the Sanger event outside of Fresno Sunday on our way out of the way drive home! Anything to support our fellow Scion Clubs!
Thanks Verone!
pixiedixie862 09-21-2005, 07:02 AM I agree the Sirius is pretty cool! i dont have lots of money so... id say like 13 bucks is resonable... One thing i dont like is when i get cut off when im in the middle of singing the damn song... ughh it irratates me... lol but hey its better than regular radio!! :)
Tifchik12 09-21-2005, 07:57 AM LVScionGal- Maxim Radio is a talk radio station (as in Maxim Magazine) and they are just so funny.
They have this thing called the "Yo Momma Invitationals" and they have two people battle it out with yo mamma jokes.
two thumbs up.
dasaint80 09-21-2005, 09:08 AM Sorry but I Swear by XM Radio!! it rocks and it's much better quality and programming.!!
:loser:
aireck 09-21-2005, 09:43 AM i love it since the day i got it installed at Longo (thanks!!)
i can't stand the radio in my Yukon and am planning on adding Sirius aswell....
i will continue after the 9 months are up...
scandalous 09-21-2005, 07:55 PM I dont know about you guys, but mine cuts out ALL THE TIME.
When I was driving up north to the Sanger show, I only got reception maybe 2/3 of the way! It was so disappointing! This is satellite radio and yet I was getting NO SIGNAL for sometimes 20-30 min on end! I finally got sick of it and went back to CDs.
I like it when I get reception but dont see the point in spending a monthly fee for sometimes crappy reception.
=/
Tifchik12 09-21-2005, 08:01 PM ^mine only cuts out for a couple seconds. I've never had it cut out for a long period of time. :(
scandalous 09-21-2005, 08:03 PM Around town, I only get small delays [overpasses, parking structures, etc] but when I went for my first road trip up north since having it installed, I was counting on it for my road tunes!
I was so disappointed that it was being so finicky! :(
Corrine 09-21-2005, 11:34 PM Where I live I dont get that good of reception with it at all!!! If it was better, then I would for sure pay the $12.95/month...since its free right now I dont mind, but unless it gets better I dont think I will continue it.
es65notch 09-22-2005, 02:51 PM Sorry but I Swear by XM Radio!! it rocks and it's much better quality and programming.!!
:loser:
eccept xm doesnt have all the NFL games thats a must
Longoscion 09-22-2005, 05:08 PM Sirius seems to have more benefits at this time then XM
HKSpeed 09-23-2005, 03:31 AM my Sirius had "no signal" for 3 straight days, and 6-7 hours on another day.
everytime (at least a dozen times now) i call sirius to resend a signal (to change to the standard plan), it never comes through. either sirius is consistently lying to me or someone at longo didnt install my sirius correctly.
the worst part is when i take it to longo, the service guy and pdi dept say its because i'm on a family plan or demo plan.
i'd pay for sirius if worked properly.
INSIDEOUT 09-23-2005, 05:11 PM I like my sirus.. I have had no complaints I took the stock one out and hooked up the one that came with my screen and it worked better than the one from scion... The signal was stronger/
atodak 09-23-2005, 05:37 PM Shade 45....The best Rap station
mattssi 09-23-2005, 06:37 PM THe one thing I can't get to like on Sirius (and XM for that matter) is the rap stations. I can't find 1 station that I can sit and listen to for any period of time without getting annoyed or just not enjoying the music.
I guess I want less ghetto thug music and more good, newer music.
Sometime I listen to shade45 and think...man o man, did they just have a 30 minute conversation without one complete and understandable sentence?!?!?!?
Those gun shot sounds get old quick too
Tifchik12 09-23-2005, 08:16 PM Is there a way to see the full name of an artist or the full name of a song (when the song title/artist name is really long)? I have pressed every button, trying to see if it will scroll or something.
mattssi 09-23-2005, 08:17 PM Unfortunately, I don't think so. Thats the worst non-feature of this stereo aside from the sound.
lalagimp 09-24-2005, 02:26 AM I would how many other people actually walked away from the Longo install.
Free service and equipment ,but I'd rather keep my kenwood in there with the mp3 player connection that I did instead of going back to my stock headunit. :D
evelasc0 09-25-2005, 08:38 PM I have had serious on my tc more than a year and it only cut off a few times with out any problems I loved it. When my wife had her serious installed at Longo I was hyping it up to her. I told her that she would never have to listen to regular radio. IT WAS A JOKE! the system would cut off on her ALL the time. She got sick of it and now listens to KissFM. I look like a lier to her because I had never had any problems with the unit.
I think that the problem is in the Pionner radios. They do not have a buffer or cash. I think that the antenna also sucks and is SOO BIG. I will end up changing it and see how it works with my old small antenna.
