how much does it usually cost to powder coat my wheels? I just bought my car recently, they made me pay an extra 2000 dollars for their chrome OEM wheels, the chrome looks nice but im not a fan of chrome, therefore i'm going to powder coat them unless someone would like to buy/trade them..anyway, i've heard the cost for powder coating ranges from 25 - 75 dollars, anybody know a good place in southern cali who can powder coat?

yeah...sad...everywhere i've been in socal (all the dealerships) had no scions on their lot except for 1, and they only had 1 bsp which this option...it was either get that car or wait a month on the wait list, so i bought that one

yokohama 215/45ZR17 i believe 17x7 chrome alloy wheels for $1995

 

Toyota doesn't offer chrome 17's from the factory. So they used aftermarkets and charged you $2K?! Got pics? These better be some damn good rims.

Chromed wheels should cost about an extra $200. Not $2000. If you paid an extra 2k for that... Sorry, you got screwed.

Those are just chrome-dipped stock rims with stock Yoko's. You can't tell me it takes $2000 to chrome-dip stock wheels.

 

Looks damn hot though I'll say Hows about I get mine powdercoated in your desired color and we can just trade wheels through the mail? Yay or nay?

u might want to trade with a tc owner somewhere cuz chrome under powder coat is TOOOO DAAAMN HEEEAVY! its bad enough u got the big stiffy from the dealer

Look at it this way...at least you already have unique wheels. Save some $crill and you can get BETTER & BIGGER rims & tires later.

 

you didn't search hard enough for the tC. You can find them everywhere and if you find a decent dealership that will follow up on you, you'll get the car you want. I wanted a bone stock 5spd BCP, I got it in 3 weeks.

Salesman called me the minute it got off the rig and said he would take the keys if I came down that same day so that no one could drive it.

I picked it up 2 hours later. A little patience would have paid off big time this time around....

 

Ok we all know he got ripped for the wheels...but can someone answer his question???

I ANSWERED IT

 

The additional weight of powder coating on top of the chrome is negligible. But the chrome under the powder coat might give the color a high gloss shine.

 

If they do it right??? Like sandblast or whatever, wouldnt that strip the chrome off?
