Default tC speaker recommendations anyone?

I am curious what people have put in the stock speaker locations in their tC's. I want better sound out of my car WITHOUT A SUB. I want to keep the cargo area in my tC. What I am looking for is a little more bass while still having a crisp, clear sound.

Also, has anyone had any problems mounting speakers? When I looked online for speakers that would fit in the tC, I found that very few speakers would work. Is there an issue with mounting depths that I need to take into account when buying speakers for the factory housings?

Thanks for your help.

You should be fine with custom-made baffels ( go here) and 6.5" speakers in the doors and rear speakers. That's what I'm doing with Elemental Design speakers. http://www.edesignaudio.com

6.5" will fit front and rear with custom made baffles or adapters like these from crutchfield:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-wLKcVTL...3200&I=142SAT6

The front factory housings are riveted in so you'll have to drill them out. Rears are just bolted in with 10mm bolts. There's plenty of room behind the speakers so mounting depth shouldn't be a problem.

I wanted better sound but without adding a sub like you, so I tried polk db650 front and rear on the stock HU power. They had more clarity, but didnt add any extra bass so I went back to stock speakers for the time being. I don't think adding just speakers will make a big difference without an amp or ugraded HU.

They may be a bit expensive, but def worth every penny...JL Audio VR650 components up front and VR650 coaxials in the real.

You are running these aftermarket speakers w/ no addidional amp? Aren't they underpowered and crappy sounding w/out a morepowerful, clean, amp?

i have 6.5 kicker resolution components in the front, 6.5 edi6000s in the rear, with an extra set of kicker resolution tweeters in the rear because there's extra base coming from the sub in the trunk. all the components are running off of a kenwood 4 channel amp. everything fit perfectly and sounds sick. i was getting a little bit of a problem with the lights dimming so i ended up switching to a redtop battery and adding a 1.5f cap.

the jl audio vr650csi components arent worth it... but the vr650cxi coaxials are. if you're looking for sound great midbass look into DD (digital designs) they also have some nice thumpin subs. but they are pricey

Try the Alpine R-Series, with or without an external amp. They are designed to work well with Alpine's higher-end HU's, which are roughly the same power as the stock Pioneer's. Of course, they will sound better and clearer with an external amp.
