Default quirky or manufacturing defect??

i was sitting in the front passenger side today and noticed that the etching on the window glass and it reads"'TOYOTA." i didn't think anything of it until i got back on the driver seat and noticed that it reads "ATOYOT" on the driver window glass from the inside. i got out of the car and looked at both windows (front and back) and the quarter panel window and they all read "TOYOTA." i went to the passenger side, and beholds, they all read backward from the outside!! seems strange? it seems they cut corner and install the same window with the same etching on all the doors!

i checked out my other toyota and my neighbor's toyota and they all have the proper writing that you can read from the outside.

maybe i'll try the dealer to see what other scions have. what is your observation on your own scion?

Someone was probably asleeep at the photoetching department since the glass is different on each side. The curvature of the glass is not the same in the front windows. Think of it more as a mirror effect.

A lot of car manufacturers do that. The glass is cut, polished and printed with the safety logo BEFORE it is drape formed and tempered to the contour of the right or left hand side. This means that identical pieces of glass are used in the manufacturing process right up until the last forming stage. This is a very common pracitce in production to save money.

Interesting indeed. I'll rank this one up there with the little gremlin etchings that they put on the circut boards. I know some of you know what I'm talking about.
