Hey there ppl. I have a question and hope i can get a good answer here =)

I bought an Audiobahn A4601T 4-Chan amp. Its rated at 100 watts per channel at 2 ohm and 75 watts at 4 ohm.

I am thinking of wether to go with 2 ohm or 4 ohm. I know the difference is the chance of distortionin higher volumes, but are there any more drawbacks? I am upgrading to 4 o2 audio mid ranged speakers found here, all the way at the bottom:

www.o2audio.com/midrange.html

Now my question is, i am going to put component tweeters and have been taking a hard look at the Infinity Reference 1011 and 1051 ones. Now my question is, where do the tweeters get their power from? The References bring a crossover, so does that mean the tweeters are connected with the speaker wire too? Does the crossover send the higher frequencies to the tweeter, while the lower ones go to the mid ranged? Or do i need a 6-channel amp to be able to run all of them?

Someone please break down the ohm stuff for me in human language =P Im trying to get all this stuff right the first time =)

the crossover send the higher frequencies to the tweeter, while the lower ones go to the mid ranged?

Exactly what a passive x-over does. If you buy a component set, it should have a mid, a tweet, and a x-over. You connect the speaker wire from the amp to the x-over. Then there's outputs for mid/tweet on the x-over.

As far as 2 or 4 ohms...Where are you finding a 2 ohm component set? Almost all are 4 ohms.

And realistically, you don't need more than 100 watts on almost any front stage unless you like bleeding ears or have VERY power hungry components. Mine get ~75-85 watts each and are uncomfortable long before distortion :)

PS. That link didn't work

When you install a component system, you have tweeters, mid range speakers and a crossover. Speaker wire runs from one channel off the amp to the crossover. Then the tweeter and mid-range speaker connect to it. The crossover's impedance should match your targeted output impedance. Looking at the specs of that amp, you can push 75 watts through to each channel at 4 ohms or 105 watts through 4 channels at 2 ohms. I'm having a hard time finding infinity's website but if the crossover matches the amp's impedance (the ohms rating), then you won't have a problem.

If you're refering to the OM-605ND, they dont look worth it. Their frequency response is 130Hz-15kHz while other mid-range speakers such as Elemental Designs Eu-600 can do 56Hz-6kHz which means you'll get more depth to your music. Plus the O2 requires 8 ohms and your amp doesn't power at that impedance. If I were you, I'd go with 6000s component system for the front (if you drive a tC) and Eu-600 for the rear. That's what I'm doing for my car, I'm just waiting for next weekend to come :D :D

Hmm, thanks alot guys! I have been taking a look at eD and the Eu-600's look great. I am giong to dump the o2's and jump on these. I will put 4 all around, with two infinity tweeters, all running at 4 ohms. The Eu's run at 4 ohms, as well as my infnitiy reference tweeters. The Audiobahn amp produces 75 at 4 ohms so i am set =)

Just to double check, these eD guys are good, correct? They look good and shipped, i can get all four for 180 shipped =D Thanks to coupons

Also, i cant really afford a sub and an amp and all that good stuff for now, but can i live off the bass the Eu-600's produce for a couple of months? Is the bass better than stock?
