I keep hearing that Hankook makes some pretty good tires, and the price isn't as bad as other popular names? What is the name of the best summer tire tat Hankook makes for stock tC rims? How does it compare to the Potenza?

I'm going to rock hankook ventus HRII tires for my new 17" rims.

I've also heard good things about hankook, the price isn't bad either.

I have Hankook Ventus Sport K104 on my 18" rims on my s-10. I think their rubber is pretty soft. Grips real nice at first, but within a year, they don't hold very well.

they aren't bad for the price. i have the ventus RS-2's and they are almost bald. i can probably get another thousand miles for so before i get a new set. i got the tires back in june and put almost 11K miles on it. pretty much better overall than the re92's. the only downsides are that they wear much quicker than the stock tires and that they are a bit louder.

I have ventus 405's hr II's on my mr2. I got them because they are sporty and fulfill all my spirited driving while maintaning awesome treadwear. I will also run them in autocross, and not care about the 4 second accumulated difference I could gain from "true sports tires".

Also, compared to the stock potenza's on the tC (g/f owned), the hankooks are much quieter and feels "smoother", something I didn't expect considering in my 2.

i have the same tires. i love them. they havent annoyed me with the louder noise. they grip awesome. treadlife is ____ty but i dont care cuz i dont really care about wasting $$ for tires year round cuz i drive pretty average.

Do they make these 405's in 17' for the tC? Of course I want a quiet ride, and good traction, but I also want good tread life. I can't afford to be putting on new tires every year.

They should. I have 205/45/16 in front and 235/40/17 in the rears. I'm sure they would make 215/40/17. If not, a 225/40/70 would still be ok, as long as you aren't in much snowy weather.

yeah they make them in 215 40 17, (the 405's) 85 each at www.wheelstudio.com

I'm in FL so snow isn't really an issue here....

All I'm really looking for is a pair of summer tires that have a hell of a grip in dry, humid, rainy weather, and last a decent while.

i just ordered a set of bf goodrich gforce sport. i will be installing these in a few weeks. they are on backorder right now. after i get them installed i will give you a comparison of how the bf goodrich fair with the hankook rs-2's. also, the bf goodrich have a 340 treadwear which is better than the hankooks 200.
