Default S/C warranty concerns

I just found out that my local dealership will not honor the warranty on the SC unless I purchase it from them. Has anyone else run into a similar problem w/ their dealership?

call it bs.
you have every right to a warrenty if you take it to then in the sealed box trd shipped it in. They just want to mark it up or something. Its no different than buying it from another dealership (im assuming sparks or mcgeorge, which are dealerships) and having another dealer install it.

Take it to another dealership if they still dont want to .... just loss of business for them

they probably want to make sure that it was installed correctly. i dont blame them for not taking a chance with someone else installing it correctly because they dont know if that person was qualified or not.

if you buy it somewhere else and have the dealer install it. thats bs try another dealer.

i'd think there is some kinda of higher up you could report the actual dealer to. It would be not following guidelines to install a "dealer" part just because you didnt buy it from them.

That would be like saying your putting on goodyear tires you ordered from online and a goodyear dealer would say they wont warranty the tires oooorrrr something like that haha.

Do you mean buy the kit from them, or have them install it?

What I wanted to do was to purchase the SC online then have then install it. Unfortunately Hawaii doesn't fall under any region or even Toyota USA so I guess I have no option.

If the dealer installs it, then it should be covered under the TRD warranty, but like you said, maybe its different in HI, although I don't know why it would be. Maybe they just aren't willing to install one that wasn't purchased from them, again, I don't know why they would do that, but I suppose its their choice.
