Default Future xA owner has some questions...

Ok I've been trolling around on this website for the past week or so and I am about 98.9% certain I want to buy a xA. However here are some of my concerns after reading current owners griefs. Please address if you have ideas/opinions/are extremely bored. Thanks!

1. The xA doesn't come with "Scion Security" standard. Does this mean it has no keyless entry what so ever?? Is this an option most current owners got? I'm curious because I find this a requirement, not an "acessory"!

2. I keep reading about how easy the paint chips. Does Scion offer any kind of clear coat protectant option?

3. I read that the Scion floormats were pretty crappy. How many people feel this way and should I get them?

the scion security, joke, i would just not get it and get an aftermarket viper alarm, its money well spent, and acts alot better.

scion does not offer a paint protection, but most dealerships do, but they are a rip off. unfortuantly scion saves money by shavin on the quality of some things, i think almost all scions have problems with paint chips, i dont know what to suggest there but to get a clear bra, only other option other than havin allot of touch up paint, or getting it repainted.

as far as the floor mats, mine came wit da car, and i switched them out, they are floor mats, not that expensive, personal preference, but if the dealership isnt givin them to you, i would suggest to just buy your own later

1) Security is not standard. With all the aftermarket systems out there I’m sure you could find one cheaper
2) Chips happen especially with all the road debris here in NY. As for chips without some type of collision with on coming rocks….too early to say, my xA is only a week old.
3) $125 for floor mats……no thanx. Check out your local auto zone. Sure you could save a bunch.

Good luck with your xA

For the same amount of money that scion charges for their security system, I got a good alarm, with remote start.
My car came with floormats (to my suprise)
And... because of reading posts about paint chips here, I decided to go with the dealer protection offer, 500 bucks, OUCH. but it covers the interior and exterior of the car for 5 years from chips/spills/defects/etc. They also detail the car and supposedly put a special coating on the outside, and maybe scotchguard the inside.. I'm not sure.

I havent had my car for long, about 3 weeks... but I like it alot. Fun to drive, VERY economical, and it looks good. A bargain at 15K

don't get the 10 dollar floor mats they tend to move all over the place due to the short cleats

go for the 20 dollars mats that have the longer cleats well worth the extra 10 bux

I "hang out" on several different automotive web boards...mazda, scion, nissan for starters. And everyone says that "fill in the blank" manufacturer has paint that chips easily. The fact is, paint will chip when it is hit by a flying projectile at 60 mph. Paint protectants or sealants, which I have on all of my cars, can definitely be worthwhile to help out against environmental bad stuff, but protection against projectiles is not the intended use. I can also recommend clear-bra for the most obvious exposed areas of your car ( I have it on my Z and wish I had done it on my tC)
Enjoy your xA.
