Anyone have one of these yet? I ordered one for my intake but it hasn't arrived yet.

Just lookin for some feedback on this product or any other filter wrap/prefilter products.

interesting. ive just got the short ram so not worried, though it still does kinda tuck behind the right headlight somewhat...i dont think its in the path of where water might come in tho

 

the injen CAI is directly behind the bumper so i dont think you need this and as for the short ram i hardly doubt that your engine compartment is going to get that flooded.

I've also been eyeballing that new AEM filter that doesn't need oiling...

 

i have the short ram from injen as well and didnt think that water would get to it untill one day i looked around the filter to see if it was wet around their after driving in the rain and it was so i put the injen heat sheild on to see if water was getting on to the filter and the next time it rained i looked again and their was water on the heat sheild

I have the shorty intake also and I don't have fog lights on my box. My plan is to mod the foglight cover in the bumper to allow a direct flow of cold air to the filter. That's where the Hydroshield comes in. It SHOULD keep moisture out of my intake.

 

Keep in mind that this product says "water repellant" not "water proof". I take this as saying it will not allow mist or light spray to enter, but still watch out for the bigger puddles.

 

i look at it this way it also helps keep the bugs out of the nooks and crannies

i know i've seen a few dead bugs stuck in there before

 

i might just get either the shield or the cover thing....bot sure yet

I didnt think water would still get on it if its the short ram lol but if it does that means I will have to protect it!!

 

If you take out or modify the fog light cover for the cai. Here's a little DIY you can do. I should mention it's kinda goofy so do it at your own risk. IT would be a good idea touse this DIY in conjunction with the hydroshield.

Use a flower pot that is a little bigger then the filter itself. Cut the flower pot in half or to your liking. Face the opening of the flower pot away from the opening for the fog lamp. Attaching it is another story, that is where your creativity comes in. My brother did it with his old accord worked pretty good actually. I know several companies make a heat shield for the CAI filter. I have a feeling those can be used as well.

 

I'd go with the hydroshield man. The Water Repellent feature is like the Teflon coating on some fabrics. Water will bead-up on the surface and shake-off easily, but if the water bead sits on the fabric long enough the water will eventually soak into the fabric.

 

I've had the Hydrofilter on for the last week and it's been working out well. I was affraid that by cutting into the foglight plug I would have issues with water but ...so far so good. I checked the filter a couple of times after getting home (in the rain) and didn't notice any water even ON the filter.
