Factory Warranty!!
Hi I just bought an Xa and when i was talking to the financing woman I asked her about alarms. Keyless entry with autostart was 900.00...
What is up with that. Then i made a comment like well i will just get an aftermarket one she responded well if something happens with wiring bla bla bla it will void you factory warranty. My question is all these people hooking cars up and all does it void you factory warranty or did they forget to tell you that. I am scared because the reason for buying this vechile new is because i had tons of problems with my other vechile. And i want this one to last. Any suggestions about the alarm or factory warranty? Thanks!!

Hi Judy, The DEALER is full of crap! A after market alarm will not void your warranty. Period. Please make sure you get someone that nows how to install them correctly. Please stay away from the big boys, Like Circuit City, Best Buy and the rest. Also did you go and get your new car alone? Car dealers prey on single female buyers. Good luck with your alarm system.

The dealer isn't exactly full of crap.
yes an aftermarket anything will not void your warranty-
What WILL void your warranty is if something fails, as dealer stated, by direct cause of the aftermarket part. If it causes damage to something else in the vehicle, then that damaged part cannot be covered under your warranty as it's nothing that factory (toyota/scion)did wrong
I can ramble on forever trying to find a way to word this properly- or you can check here:

The funny thing is the dealer DOES NOT install their alarms. I still would not pay them $900.00 to install a alarm. Maybe someone here on SL can direct you to someone in your area that install alarms, but please stay away from the big car stereo places.

this alarm thing is giving me a head ache too. the people i talked to when i got my car said it wil void if they cut into the wiring and do something wrong. when i called some local shop they said something about the only thing they really cut into is the starter kill which i wont need?
