Ok im not sure this is the right section, but i just took off my calipers to paint them, so i had to remove the brake line. Do i have to bleed the brakes now before i re-install the calipers or is it ok just to bolt the calipers back on and top off the brake fluid????

^^^ yup. If you removed the break line or broke the connection...you have to bleed them.

ok thanx guys. It was actually a lot easier than i thought. this article helped a lothttp://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_howto_bleedbrakes.shtml. My dad and I knocked it out in about 30 minutes (including the time to lower the rear and then jack up the front. GOO stoptech. I think that i will be buying their stage 1 brake upgrade now. I think that it will fit nicely with the newly painted calipers.

ok so i lied. I got in my car to drive today and the pedal just goes all the way to the floor. NO FIRMNESS AT ALL. grrrr so my dad and I re-bled the brakes. still no bubbles or anything, yet same result. the brakes won't even stop the car once it starts rolling. you have to use the e-brake. Another thing, when i pump the pedal it will get somewhat firm, but then if i stop and then start pumping again the pedal will go straight to the floor. any ideas or suggestions??? should i just have it towed to the dealer? Did I not torque the brake line on hard enough??? help! haha

u need to use a power bleeder. the conventianal method doesnt work. there is a DIY powerbleeder somewhere on this site

Ahh. I was wondering why you would need a power bleeder as opposed to the regular method. I guess Clayton's dilemma answered my question.

You can do it without a power bleeder. The instructions will work but the car has to be running so the master cylinder gets the extra pressure needed.
Start the car and leave running, rebleed per the instructions, and you should be fine.

Did you use new copper crush washers on the Banjo fitting before torqueing. They are designed to crush and seal only once.

We did not use power bleeder or leave the car running when installing my BBK and have no problems whatsoever. The usual pump and bleed with the vehicle off works just fine on the tC.
