Any Scion Technicians? Oil change questions
If you're a tech and change scion auto's oil, please answer this:
When you do an oil change, isn't the maintenance required light resetting supposed to be worked in somewhere in the procedure? And if there are procedures, is there a document that is given to the techs on what to do, like an SOP or guidelines, but at least something on paper? Also, is this feature that new that the Technicians should be able to write it off as a simple error due to the fact that it is a new feature?
If the poll is any indication, yeah, my service at the dealership had not reset it.
Yeah, I'm capable of doing it on my own, but, I get 3 free, so I may as well. But even if you pay for it, the resetting of the counter should be something they do as to limit any inconvenience to a person not in the know as to what it means.

I reset it after service anyway plus I use the Trip B tripometer to determine how many miles I've traveled so far on the oil change just so I don't neccessarily have to depend on the maintenance light.
Sometimes technicians forget. You wouldn't believe how distracting that job can be. I've seen it firsthand for over 5 years now. Hell, I've been the distractor!
Also, the lube guy generally is one of the newest guys at any dealership since that's one of the easiest and most straight-forward jobs in a service department.
It's usually an honest mistake by a guy that has lots of demands on him. It's an inconvenience to the owner, but I wouldn't take serious offence to it if I were you.
