Removing trim around shifterknob

ok i i just baught a new shift **** for my xb and a new boot and i was windering how do i take off the silver trim ring around it.

Just turn the original shift boot inside-out and remove the spring that holds the boot to the trim piece. Hope that was clear...I don't know how to tell you any better.
