I found this on spyderchat.com :
http://redlinetrackevents.com/event_dec16.html

I'd love to go to this, but this is my first track event--so what can I expect (especially cost-wise, besides the entry fee)?

I'm running a mostly stock TC except for the TRD rear sway, hotchkis strut bar, and Kumho ECSTA ASXs.

1. Am I going to burn through my tires at this event?
2. How about brakes? What can I expect for usage? I need to go measure how much is left on my rotors/pads, but usually, will I need to replace things after this event?
3. How bad is this going to be on my car as far as longevity is concerned? I'm at about 34k miles right now.

Also, it'd be cool to see more TCs out there...

anyway, I'd like to know your guys' thoughts on this...

thanks

I don't have any track experience personally... yet. But I've talked to a lot of people who do in preperation to go.

Basically, you're probably going to burn through your tires by the end of the day. You'll probably be needing new ones. Your brake pads may also need to be replaced after the track day, though your rotors should be fine. One *highly* recommended thing I've heard is to upgrade to steel braided brake lines and higher quality brake fluid before you go to the track to avoid brake fade.

Also, I can't remember what it's called but they sell like a sheet plastic that you can cover the front of your car with to avoid gravel dents if you don't have a car bra. Alternatively, you should at least cover your headlights with electrical tape or something.

Here's a really good link from the S2000 Club of America forums:

Those S2000 guys have a lot of track experience because a lot of them are weekend racers, and the S2000 was pretty much built for track days.

Very cool... That is the parent company of Draxas LLC..

Im actually the president of Redline Track Events LLC. :-)

I know we've had a group of Scion tCs out to one of our events before. From what I heard, they had a blast and more than held their own against the other sport compacts in attendance.

What brand/model tire are you planning on using?

Upgraded pads are a very good idea. I would look into getting a set of Hawk pads if they make a set for the tC.

Well unfortunately I didn't sign up in time, plus I think it's not financially feasible this month. Maybe later? (I don't think I can afford to fry a set of tires right now)

Anyway, if was to go this month I would've run my Kumho ASXs (until I get enough cash to buy some BFG T/A KDW2s) and probably upgrade the brake pads (maybe TRD?)

So in addition to the tires, my current setup is:
Hotchkis front strut tower bar
TRD Rear Sway bar
TRD lowering springs

damn...I really want to go....
